The thin veneers I used (the same as in my Fokker D.VII) do not have a uniform dark layer hue, just the dark borders with bright inside, so I used a brown pencil to fill the pattern.
Prze! That rig is brilliant! However, I'm wondering if I can cut cardboard accurately enough to do this. (I need a 2 degree dihedral for my Flashback Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutters.Warren

Are you saying this is a before and after? Your pencil shading/colour-matching is spot on, wow!!
...Did you decide on blue rib tapes for a particular reason, or was it a toss up and blue won out over pink? Warren

WarrenIMHO there are some hints favouring blue over pink or losenge tapes. In the photo from the book by Kabatek and Kulczyński on "OAW aircraft in Polish Aviation", of which a rather poor copy I showed at the beginning of this thread, the stripes over the lower wing and the tailplane ribs seem to be uniform and brighter than the losenge - my understanding is that blue shows up brighter than pink in black-and-white photos. Besides the colour drawing in the same book also indicates blue stripes.
