Just as Paul implied, I?m at a loss for words.  You mentioned at one point that ?it?s not perfect ? well, I would argue that your efforts are about as close to perfect as possible. Very inspirational work!

Hello Tim,
Thank you very much for your kind comment - it's true, I'm usually not 100% satisfied with my own work, it's just not perfect - although what's shown here might not be so bad after all.

Every time I drop in for a look at this thread I'm completely inspired by your subtle approach to detailing
I've long since ran out of superlatives so please take it that if I can think of any others I'll add them and in the meantime keep posting the progress pics and technique explanations. I've never built a large scale model, but am really enjoying your description and build  8)

Very nice effect on the cockpit coaming. Another method to try..... :)

Hello Nigel,
Thank you for your kind comment - and yes, it is a fairly simple method.  ;)

Some more detailing work - this time on the antenna boom and the antenna wire ... or the "Luftdraht".
Only the small funnel remained from the kit part.
The wire is a thin 0.06 mm copper wire, and the lead weight is a small lead ball that has been filed down to size.
I drilled a small 0.15 mm hole in this lead ball and glued the wire into it.
The lead weight was then dipped in Mr. Metalcolor "Dark Iron".

Continue with the bomb rack.
Instead of four bombs, the Roland should only have a single bomb attached.
The other three bomb racks remain empty - this allows the unused straps to be shown dangling loosely.
The attached bomb actually hangs only by its strap.

The Orcarina exhaust, characteristic of the Roland C.II, is now also flanged to the engine.

I will use the beautiful 3D-printed armament from Gaspatch for this model.
Of course, the forward-facing machine gun is missing the special mounts needed to attach it to the fuselage.
This meant a somewhat more delicate operation, as the two steel brackets from the kit machine gun had to be sawed off and modified to accommodate the 3D machine gun.

With a lot of patience, good tools, a strong magnifying glass, and some good heavy metal music in my headphones, it worked wonderfully.

Oh, and headbanging to heavy metal music is counterproductive at this point....  8)

In these pictures, the Gaspatch 0815 MG is mounted for testing purposes - nothing has been glued yet.
It looks quite usable so far, I think.

The Gun was painted 50/50 with Tamiya semi-gloss black and matte black, with a small drop of Natobraun added.
Graphite from a soft 8B pencil was used to dry paint the MG in various places to give it a slight metallic sheen.
The muzzle of the MG was drilled out with a 0.2 mm drill bit.

Hitting the muzzle - center was the most difficult part of this task.  8)

Lovely detailing work Bertl. That GasPatch gun and mounts looks superb, well worth the effort getting it fitted.

That made me laugh! I hope you have some Sabaton in your collection, they are quite appropriate for historical modellers......

Thank you very much, Nigel.
Sabaton, yes, of course.
I saw them live two or three times in Munich.
Each time was a great show.
But I have to say, my true heavy metal heart beats for Ozzy/Dio Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Rainbow, Deep Purple, and Iron Maiden.
Unfortunately, I never got to see Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin live, but I did see the others - all in Munich.
