Been out of circulation recently Rick so I am catching up. Both the 1 1/2 Strutter and the Scout look very good in the colours, especially the Scout and the rib effect.

arrgh white balance RAG! j/k looking great ... but fer chrissakes WHITE BALANCE :-D

What is White Ballance?  ;D OK BO, I know I have had some regression on My Photos. A change in the set up has not gone well!\
RAGIII

I've been following this in lurk mode, nice to see both kits progressing so well, they are looking great. The Aviattic decals look good, Dave and Richard have done a great job in getting the contrast between the rib tapes and fabric (and markings) just right. I know there will be more tweaks before the decals are on sale but your Strutter looks very good at this stage.

Thanks Nigel! Great to have you back!!
RAGIII

I agree. Very nice work on both builds RAG.

Thanks Tim!
RAGIII

Your Scout is coming along beautifully Rick, the translucent effect works well for me.

Richie

Thanks Richie. I have a bit to do before the Translucent effect looks right to Me!
RAGIII

A Thing of Beauty, Rick! Thanks to the kindness of a fellow Forum member there may be a Scout in my near future, so I'm taking notes. And I suspect there's a Strutter lurking somewhere down the timeline as well, always wanted to do a French machine.

Dave V.

The CSM Scout is an Awesome kit. I am sure you will enjoy the build. Kudos to the Memeber that has supplied you with the kit!

.... and today I have finished applying all of the Aviattic PC 10 decals. Touch up paint was needed because of My inept application  :(

One thing to mention. The color looks very Green under the light I took the photo in. In My building and painting room there is a More OD look! Lighting does make a difference!!

This is coming on very well. I am liking the look of those decals a lot, I like the way they have handled the rib tapes.

Looking very nice RAGIII.  I’m liking the decals as well. The fabric details and ribbing are really impressive. Too bad it’s not available in 1/72.

The decals look great, they'll save filling the air with solvent fumes from airbrushing and look fantastic.

Thanks Nigel. The actual sheets when released should be even better. These are Very early Test sheets. The real deal will have All national and squadron markings included.

Thanks, and yes, it's a shame 1/72nd doesn't get the Love it used to!

Thanks Dave!  The next BIG test is going to be how they hold up to the Masks I will be using for the 43 squadron markings! That will not be an issue to anyone using the production Aviattic Decals!

Looks absolutely great, Rick! I think Aviattic was the single biggest surprise waiting for me when I got back into modeling in a post-WnW world, I'll never forget how stunned I was when I saw that close-up of the big Felixstowe on their website for the first time. I'm really looking forward to trying the clear linen-effect decals on my Nieuport... assuming I ever get out of the cockpit, that is :-D

Thanks Dave. Yes, Aviattic has been one of the best developments in WW1 modeling in quite a while. I guess one could say they picked up where Americal left off! One other thing I need to Mention. I originally screwed up when assembling the kit engine. I broke and lost several parts. Knowing that Ken had used an aftermarket engine I asked and He agreed to send Me his unused kit engine. The second one went well, Thanks Ken!!

A little more paint work done on the Scout. Upper rib tapes painted a lighter CDL. Should look good after a wash is applied to the edges of the tapes. I also did another layer on the underside "See Through" prior to overpainting. I was really pleased until I realized the roundels were a bit too far outboard. Oh well, good practice  :-[

Good progress here despite having to redo those roundels. All that CDL is a bit daunting...... ;)

At least you painted the rings in the right colour order, unlike me! But as you say, it's all good practice. If you are going to strip the wing entirely (which I had to do), maybe try your CDL overspray first to see how it looks over the roundels and rib tapes on the underside?
