I'm not sure if I really added all the little things to the canopy strut - it's better if you take a look at some original pictures of the D.I.
Unfortunately original pictures of the D.I are quite rare.

This was an unbelievable set of posts. After each picture I was getting ready to post something but then there was update after update my I had to dig a hole so my jaw could drop further. Bertl, this is all superb work and I have run out of words to say how impressed I am with your skills. I just enjoy your posts so much and find them so helpful and inspiring.

It really makes me happy to read your words, Nigel.
Meanwhile, the construction of the Albatros D.I is coming to an end, there is not much left to do before completion.
However, the three remaining Albatros D.V and D.Va's are still in my workshop.
So this thread will continue for a while - unless I take another long break.

As I'm currently busy at home ripping out old floor tiles, wall panels and a wooden ceiling, I thought to myself in the evening:
?..... why don't you do something small, something tiny for the Albatros D.I ...... ? after the rough work of the last few days?
Thought, done - here you go:
3D printed anemometer from Proper Plane.
A really nice little component with the finest detailing.

It's hard to believe how many paint tins and tubes have to be opened to paint this tiny creature ... .



Unfortunately, the dial decal is a little too big, but this is not noticeable to the naked eye.



In order to be attached to the outer left wing strut, the anemometer naturally requires an appropriate holder.
The aluminum coating of a tea light provides the right material for this.
A "tealight strip" just under a millimeter wide, cut to the right length and bent at the right angle, glued on with superglue, done.





So that the anemometer can later be installed on the strut, a matching sleeve made of the same "tea light material" was attached there.

The four outer struts have also been painted and can now be fitted to the model.
Of course, the front of the struts also has small scratches and dirt.....
The "tea light holding sleeve" for the anemometer also looks quite usable.

Sometimes mistakes happen.
I had underlaid the iron crosses on the underside of the lower wing with a white rectangle, but this is wrong - as the original pictures showed me.
They weren't decals, I had painted them all.
So I sanded everything down as far as possible, repainted it with light blue, masked the new EKs and then painted them again - now without the rectangle.
It wasn't that easy with the almost finished model. I almost left it as it was for fear of damaging something on the model, as wrong as it was.
You can see the previous outlines of the white rectangles a little under the macro light, but with the naked eye you can see (almost) nothing, thank God.
It will still be weathered and soiled a little.
Paint again Tamiya semi-gloss black with a few drops of light gray mixed in.

The screw connection of the upper surface on the canopy strut was also added.
Roden completely omitted this screw connection, the wing is completely smooth.
I used resin screws from MaserClub to represent the screws.
The pictures show the "rough draft".

A small detail, under the drain cocks of the two Windhoff ear radiators you can also see traces of dripping cooling water on the wing.
