The MG was now gently sprayed with the airbrush with Tamiya brown and some Tamiya smoke, both mixed with 90% thinner.
This fine mist of paint serves as a filter to break up the metallic shine a bit and capture the "used" look.

Depending on the incidence of light, you will now see a slightly stronger metallic shine or a slightly weaker one.

The modified Gaspatch Hotchkiss-MG can now be mounted on the top of the cowling.

Easy to say, but it wasn't quite that simple after all.
The whole plastic stuff is very fragile. In addition, all the correct angles and alignments had to be observed.
But in the end it worked.

If you look at the mounting of the MG on the original pictures, you will notice that the MG tube was additionally fixed on the cowling.

For me the question arose, do you want to represent this on the model as shown in the original?

You can probably guess the answer .... .

For the representation of this holding clamp around the MG-barrel I resorted to old proven home remedy - waste plastic  8)

The creation and assembly of the small retaining clamp required a lot of patience.
The two long screws for fixing were made of simple hot-drawn plastic sprue.

After the MG was fixed to the model, the repeating lever could also be installed.

The repeating lever was carefully inserted and adjusted on the MG.
Finally, the repeater lever was attached without glue.
Due to the color it holds very well in the bore.

Now the upper tension tower could also be inserted, aligned and glued.

With these pictures I say goodbye again for today.
See you soon,

Bertl, modeling at its best ! Your eye for details is impressive. By the way, the color of the fuselage, the weathering and shading are very well done.

Kind regards
Jörg

More exquisite scale engineering, Bertl. Truly inspirational stuff!!

I had still written in my last post "more then tomorrow".
Sorry, too much has happened this week.
I hope everything is okay with you and yours, Bertl. I know I'm always happy to wait for model updates while my fellow forum members have real world things to tackle.

I showed this project to my wife and mentioned there was quite a bit of scrap plastic used in the details. After expressing her amazement the next thing she asked was "So why do you buy all those extra parts?" ....a small amount of squirming, shrugging and the sound of crickets was my reply.....

I recently went through the entire thread again... there is a lot of things to learn from here! The first thing I will put to use is the use of the colour Radome and then those shrink tubes to protect the painted control wires and then...

Fantastic work and so very well detailed and explained.
Thanks!
