Thank you everyone.

What's your thoughts on the Uschi line ?
Alexis

I am struggling to use it in the same manner as I use the fishing line - i.e. eyelets and tubes. I do not like the look of the line just glued to the drilled hole. Well, it is doable but tricky, the line likes to be attracted to anything around, especially another sections of itself, it is not so stiff so pushing it through the polyimide tube is not easy. Besides it is evident that it is not round in cross-section, the flattness of the section is evident under magnifying glass. Also it is clearly thinner than 0.12mm fishing line and I will have to minimize places where both types are used side by side. Yet, I see no other choice to rig the delicate structure of this bird with those flexible pylons at the wing tips and the tail. I am getting experience but I will gladly return to ordinary biplanes models and to the fishing line.  ;)

And in the meantime, after a couple of hours yesterday I managed to rig the right-hand side fuselage half. The left-hand side tonight :)

Wow, just wow! That's stunning!

--------
I had the same experience with Ushi thread on my 1/72 Fokker D.VII and Albatros D.Va. On those models I did glue it directly into drilled holes but when I touched it with CA it curles up and is very hard to install.
On my 1/32 D.VII I found it's 'stick to itself' useful for the internal rigging where there are those 'loops' moulded in the corners of the fuselage frames, as I could thread it in a loop then it sticks to itself. Add a drop of glue and some white glue on top to simulate the fabric covering of the turnbuckles inside.
Other than that I found it a frustrating experience, so whenever possible I've not used it again except when really, really needed.
I'm glad it's not just me!

All those wires, and to my eye they look perfect! I'm excited to follow along with this beauty.

Prez, Re the delicate rigging on the warping surfaces you could try the Modelkasten stretch which now seems more readily available

Thanks. Also for the hint on the Modelkasten.

And in the meantime the leftside was rigged. The lines with turnbuckles prepared, 6 with Uschi elastic and 10 with fishing line.

And after some time installed.

Then the test of fuselage fit.

But it will be separated because the engine must be installed first. And trust me, all the lines and the turnbuckles (50 of them!) can be viewed through the huge cockpit openings and they will not be obscured by any upper wing.  ;)

And now to Argus!

As always your rigging/bracing wires look awesome. It is a nice change to know that all of that beautiful work will be seen !

Hi Prze, after seeing this first on FB I'm happy to catch more progress here. Your interior work, especially the rigging and turnbuckles & attachment points is brilliant. Plenty of it to be seen through those large cockpit openings, too. Stunning work on the cockpit all around.

This is the one WnW kit I never did pick up with regret.
Cheers,
Gary

Many thanks for watching and leaving very nice comments.

And from the front, I have painted the engine elements.
These are the kit parts but I will add the valve push rods, electric wires, control linkages and fuel lines.

Very nice -also nice to see how apparently WNW kept improving -on their Mercedes D.III there were no hose clamps and throttle connectors and such. Must have been quite a challenge to paint those clamps so neatly!

Excellent work on the Engine. I am sure it will be a model in itself when completed!

Thanks again.
Indeed, Jeroen, the WNW kits were better and better. Pity, that it is the long gone past.
As for the painting of clamps, I have just used the brand new 0 size brush and it went smoothly, fragment after fragment with just some patience.

Today I managed to assemble the engine and to test-fit it. When doing it I realised that I overlooked the hint from the instructions to trim the fuselage opening to allow for two front valve pushrods, luckily it was not too late and I did not do any damage.
Needless to say, all the engine bay calls for some dirt, and there are still the plate decals to be applied.
