Jeannin Stahltaube 271/14 (1/32, Wingnut Wings)
« on: November 17, 2021, 09:30:02 AM »
Further reducing my stash of WNW kits. The turn now is on this early WW1 bird,  though with long service, as the kit instruction indicates it was still flyable in 1917.
The work on cockpit is underway since over two weeks. In particular the internal rigging is quite demanding with about 50 lines not counting the control cables. And at the moment just 10 lines are ready. New experience for me is here, too, as for the first time I am using Uschi elastic line alongside the fishing line. It is so because in many spots the strength is not necessary and I do not wish to stress the delicate parts too much. More of it will come with that lovely net of control lines for the tail and wing warping.
But that later and in the meantime step by step forward...

This is a great start!
The kit seems to be very nice, I can only dream of such quality in 1/48.

The turn now is on this early WW1 bird,  though with long service, as the kit instruction indicates it was still flyable in 1917.
The progress in only some years is most impressive, if you compare this plane with a modern one from 1917!

Cheers,
Frank

Great looking start!
I really like your wood sections. I'm guessing oils on an acrylic base, but what base and what oil colours?

Thank you very much for all your kind comments.

More work on the cockpits which are now basically complete. Next on the bench will be Argus engine.

Beautiful inside work as usual, your build is very promising and will be a pleasure to follow as was a pleasure to build the same great kit. Looking forward to engine bay.

Wonderful cockpit work, Prez -

I've no doubt this is going to be another one of your gems when eventually completed.
