Comment:
Timing can sometimes be everything and the release of Roden’s new 1/32 scale Spad XIIIc Early which features a scheme for a machine flown by Italian ace Francesco Baracca proves the point.
Just as we have a new kit featuring an interesting ace, Model Cellar has a nicely sculpted 1/32 resin figure of Francesco Baracca ready to pose alongside your Spad model.

Count Francesco Baracca was Italy’s top scoring fighter ace of WW1 with 34 credited victories. His legacy has continued to today as the emblem on his aircraft of a black horse prancing on its rear hooves became the logo for the Ferrari motor company, which continues it through to today.

Modellers have become accustomed to the high quality of the 1/32/ 54mm figures from Model Cellar and the Baracca figure continues that tradition.
The American-based figure manufacturer, Model Cellar, is a market leader in making figures in a variety of scales.
Model Cellar’s 1/32/ 54mm scale figure of Francesco Baracca is a realistic rendition of him, in a casual pose which would complement any model of the aircraft he flew.

The figure has been sculpted by Mike Good, one of the finest figure sculptors in the world whose name is a hallmark for guaranteed figure quality.
As is standard with Model Cellar’s line, the figure comes in a strong cardboard box with the resin parts well protected in a sealed plastic bag and bubble wrap.
Once again the quality of the casting deserves note. This is world class work, as Model Cellar owner Paul does the casting work himself.
His details are clean, clear and crisp and involve minimal clean up work.
The figure comes in six elements- body, arms, head, hat and jacket tabs. Only 3 tabs are needed but four are included in case the carpet monster devours one of them!

Conclusion:
A finely sculpted and beautifully cast realistic figure of a famous Italian WW1 ace and an ideal complement to the Roden Spad XIII kit.
Highly recommended.
