Your model looks good.  I have this kit.  I bought it at a model contest a few years ago.  It was still sealed in shrinkwrap.
The previous owner must have stored it in an oven.  When I opened it I found that every large part was warped.  I get it out
and look at it every now and then, trying to figure out how to get a nice straight build.  The boiling water thing has never
worked for me.  I have thought of trying to glue some sort of stiffeners inside to straighten things up.  It's usually at that
point that I put it back in the box and back up on the shelf.

Thanks Jimmy and Steve  :)

Jimmy , hot water doesn't work all the time and if the parts are badly warped other methods will be need . A hair dryer will work on the highest setting , but wear gloves . you will need to really heat the plastic up to twist it back into shape .

Alexis - your P-38 is coming together beautifully. The interior work and painting stand out nicely. I've never tackled a P-38 Lightning but this sure makes me want to get one!
Cheers,
Gary

Thanks Gary  :)

If you do get one , get the Tamiya kit . They have G/H and also the J versions .  ;)

Nice job Alexis,

I’d like the Tamiya kit, but really want to do a metal finish, but they all seem to be olive drab? Are the silver ones restricted to later Mk’s? If so, what are the differences?

Thanks guys  :)

Guy , don't have a lot of info on this bird but the one differences between the G and H is how the the top canopy open . On the J Version these was different power plants , bigger deeper chins , turbo changers , wheels . I think the G and H are the standard olive drab on top and neutral grey on the underside . The J is a mix of both . And that's about as much I know .

Thanks Alexis  :)

Yes, it’s just the J onwards it seems - shame the Tamiya kits are F/G/H... maybe a future release?

I think I’d rather wait for Tamiya - no offence to your lovely build!  :D
