Rick, your streaking looks good! Not that easy to get it right, and I know that because I'm doing the same now ::)

Which Tamiya paint you use for CDL? For the Fokker I like to have a less yellow, more greenish and your shade looks like that (ok, camera, light and monitor may manipulate the color ...).

Cheers,
Frank

Thanks for commenting Frank! As for the Tamiya CDL I am pretty sure it started as "Buff". I might have mixed in some grey. I used a mix I had sitting on the shelf so I am not 100% sure  ::)

Looking at the two Rick there are clearly tonal differences (but bear in mind Frank's comments), but I think that both are very good. I suspect that in reality different aircraft did look slightly different because paints would have varied and the people painting the streaking would have had different patterns too. So in brief: both get my vote! (And if I ever build a Fokker in the future I know who to send it to for painting!!)

Rick, you managed to keep the streaks in areas, where a huge amount of paint is removed. I tried it, but get quickly an uniform area.

Cheers,
Frank

. Frank, It is a matter of remembering that oils can be worked and then reworked. I remove large areas with a dampened wide flat brush then go back with a narrow brush adding what I want. If I don't like the results I remove and re-do.

Thanks for the comments Stephen. I took a break today from the Fokkers to work on the Pfalz. The next steps should make these look better.

PS: I did apply one Roden cross decal. Got a small chip but will correct that when I convert the cross to the later open ended type.

PPS: The RODEN decal is working well although it was Brittle!. It is reacting to setting solution and a hair dryer. Other than the chipped portion I am pleased.

RAGIII,
The streaking looks great. I'm wondering whether you found using acrylics easier, harder or the same just different, than the oil paints you have used in the past?

                                                                                                                        Thanks, Kevin

Thanks Kevin. The Acrylics are certainly different than what I am used to! I found I needed to work more quickly and they were just a tad harder to get the look I was after. I worked "wet" and used water and a Filter/wash to thin and remove what I needed to. In the end I am more comfortable with the time that the Oils allow.
