Oh yes!!! So pleased to see that they worked out the right size. Very happy to be able to help with this great project. It really is progressing beautifully!

Thanks Richie. Your help with the masks was invaluable!

RAGIII,
The weekend is upon us and I'm sure you'll entertain the masses with the next stage of this build.

                                                                         They're looking great,
                                                                                                        Kevin

Thanks Kevin. Todays tasks are getting Rickenbackers SPAD on its legs and finishing the Vickers.

Great paintwork on the third SPAD.
Ciao
Giuseppe

Thanks Giuseppe!

AWesome work, Rick!  The Spad must have the most robust looking of all WWI landing gear.
There are only two states to be in:  Queensland and blotto.

Thanks Gaz. Yes, the SPAD gear is indeed robust. Very sturdy on the kit also!

Thanks Terri! Yesterday I was working on the star on Rickenbackers wheels. I found a small issue after painting the blue and applying a white star. More when I have photos.
RAGIII

Here is a Teaser pulled from Google images. Look closely at the wheels. I will explain when I finish working on the kit wheels  ::)

Rick, I was some days offline, but in meantime you have done a great show here! The SPADs will be a great addition to your collection.

Cheers,
Frank

How remiss of me, I have forgotten to say how well you are doing for ages!

Excellent work, Rick

I'm flat out on a heretical group build elsewhere at the moment. I'm popping in every day and planning to finish my WWI builds when I have that done

Keep at it

Thanks Frank, Greatly Appreciated!

So going on with the wheels. After painting the wheel portion blue I applied a white star decal. It was then that I Noticed the wheels on Rickenbacker's SPAD were reversed. I had to drill the opening for the axle all the way trough and of course paint the blue and add the star marking. I replaced the locking mechanism and did some weathering on the tires and wheels. I was lucky that I had a spare set of wheels  ;D
RAGIII

PS: Just for the record, Hobby Craft failed to supply the wheel Markings on their decal sheet  :(

Thanks Richard! I have missed your SPAD builds! I was hoping your build of the Hobby Craft XIII would pave the way for the struts  8)

I have some brass strip in stock for that very job, once this Bf 109 is done

I'm quite enjoying the anticipation

Damn, I was afraid brass would be the solution. The North Carolina SPAD factory doesn't have the Machinery for brass. If I end up replacing the struts they will be hewn from Bamboo  8)

Bamboo is good, I'm a better metalworker than a woodworker

Of course, bamboo is a grass

Real fine work Rick. Amazing self discipline to keep all three together. So looking forward to the same photo with all 3 finished.

Thanks Stephen. One more clear coat to seal the painted numbers, then weathering.
