I may only add that it's a pleasure for the eyes to see how much is high your grade of workmanship.
It seems a "simple" kit but it's not! The wooden parts seems real.
Many compliments,
Roberto

Wow my friends, what a overwhelming feedback! THANK YOU ALL!

When you say nearly OOB but not quite  - given your skills just wondering whether this means minor tweaks the way modelling mortals understand it or more significant?
I replaced the middle of a grey part by a piece of streched clear sprue, with a small hole inside. Looks now more real.

The kit offers two options for the belt construction, this one has recesses in the belt wheels and plastic "belts":

The other option are normal belt wheels, but you need to scratch the belt material. I tried paper, alu and other things, but had problems due to the very thin and filigree axles (should have replaced them by metal). So they don't like even the lightest force ::)
I used finally flat rolled lead wire, with that even the crossed belt works.

A very prominent copper wire was added too.

The highlight of the kit is a 0.2mm copper PE fret with parts for the chains and wheels:

The kit provides a jig for the wheel halves, here a main wheel (the front wheel one to be done on the other side):

So only some minor things are changed.

I can’t see the photos on my iPad, so I am missing the Benz  :-\
The way Google delivers the pics, triggers a bug on the iPad browser. If you reply on my posting, then you see the links. If you copy that link into the address bar, also the iPad can display those pictures.
Or use a browser ;) : Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer are confirmed to work.

Cheers,
Frank

Frank I have just stumbled upon this, truly amazing sir.

Thank you Fredrik!

For the lovers of dioramas I would like to mention that a version of the kit with figures of Mrs. Benz and her sons will be released.

That’s 1:24 scale and therefore not my scale. But this looks actually very nice! How good to see such subjects done as a plastic model kit next to all those Tiger tanks...

That is really great -I'm now picking up another of my stalled builds (a 1/24 Hasegawa Volkswagen T1 pickup) I'm building for a friend, cars can be fun for a change!

I am very pleased to report that this model was awarded a gold medal at the competition during the exhibition in Ried/Austria last weekend.
It could not have gone better for me: three models - three gold medals :)
Thank you very much for this nice event!

Cheers,
Frank

Thank you Graham!

One was the Airco D.H.2 Stripdown, which I put on a mirror base. Was even more impressive with 4 wings and more rigging  8)

The second one the Bristol F.2B "Fighter the Crocodile"

Both of them are not my newest models, but I was the first time at that exhibition (I would not put a model again in the same contest). And since I could not decide, which model to select (with the highest chances) I asked some other known modelers and trust their voting. And they told me those are the most impressive ones of my collection.

Cheers,
Frank

You only produce masterpieces Frank, it's a joy to see this ancestor of our cars in all the splendor of its tiny mechanisms and the shininess of its wooden seat. Thank you for sharing.
