CSM Nieuport xvii (early) - COMPETED
« on: February 09, 2019, 11:02:21 PM »
Hi all.
First off I'd like to turn my thougths to Des the founding father of this wonderful community whose work inspired so much all of us... I hope this build will be of such a quality to honor your memory.

Now, let's start with some images of my progresses so far. As already said this is a great kit I was very impressed on opening the box and now that I started building it I can tell that it is also very well engineered.

That is a great start Edo! I'm sure Des would be following with rapt attention! Yes, we miss him, but his legacy endures!

Hi all!
I am very happy for your support and encouragement! It really means a lot!

Have you seen how popular this group build has become? I guess the site's traffic has doubled at least since it has beel launched. Des has made another wonder: bringing again all of us togheter...

well, well time for some pictures... I am still working on the cockpit which is very detailed and it is more difficult to put togheter then the beauty of the parts or the cleverness of the engineering suggest...

I tried some variations on the woodgrain, someplaces more reddish, some more yellowish... I am happy wth the result but I am not sure it shows out in the pictures.

and speaking of woodgrain, I would like you help on the propeller: were french props as laminated as the german ones? or were they more uniform in colour as the british ones?

thank you again! and keep up the wonderful work of your builds!

ciao
edo

Just wanted to point that you did safety belts somewhat not really according to a real plane)
I mean it is rather thick leather that is pinned to the chair
and since it is secured it is easier to put it aside and have  a clear seat, than to have the belts inside the chair)

As for side panels, please do not repeat someone`s mistake - the inside of the hatched holes are painted in blue? this is not metal)) I mean it should be for sure ply)
