Hi all.
First off I'd like to turn my thougths to Des the founding father of this wonderful community whose work inspired so much all of us... I hope this build will be of such a quality to honor your memory.
Now, let's start with some images of my progresses so far. As already said this is a great kit I was very impressed on opening the box and now that I started building it I can tell that it is also very well engineered.

Great start Edo, looking forward to your progress.

That is a great start Edo! I'm sure Des would be following with rapt attention! Yes, we miss him, but his legacy endures!

Marc

Very nice start on a very nice kit. The internal rigging looks great!

Edo,
You're off to an outstanding start my old friend. The quality of your projects is never in doubt. All the best of luck to you in this GB.

PS: Who's marking will you be using?

Hi all!
I am very happy for your support and encouragement! It really means a lot!
Have you seen how popular this group build has become? I guess the site's traffic has doubled at least since it has beel launched. Des has made another wonder: bringing again all of us togheter...
well, well time for some pictures... I am still working on the cockpit which is very detailed and it is more difficult to put togheter then the beauty of the parts or the cleverness of the engineering suggest...

I tried some variations on the woodgrain, someplaces more reddish, some more yellowish... I am happy wth the result but I am not sure it shows out in the pictures.
and speaking of woodgrain, I would like you help on the propeller: were french props as laminated as the german ones? or were they more uniform in colour as the british ones?
thank you again! and keep up the wonderful work of your builds!

Outstanding work. Looking terrific!

Just wanted to point that you did safety belts somewhat not really according to a real plane)
I mean it is rather thick leather that is pinned to the chair
and since it is secured it is easier to put it aside and have a clear seat, than to have the belts inside the chair)

As for side panels, please do not repeat someone`s mistake - the inside of the hatched holes are painted in blue? this is not metal)) I mean it should be for sure ply)

Looking good Edo!
I must try this kit.

hi edgard!
thank you very much! your input is much appreciated!
you are absolutely right ! you have cought me with my hands in the jam!!! ;)
to my excuse I have to say that working with pe is really hard to me... nothing wrong with the model, which is super, but I have not find a way to domesticate it.... So I did not manage to position the belt in a satisfactory way... I tried anhealing it, bending and gluing but it was not satisfactory at all, in the end I was really upset with my self and I thought to throw it in the bin.... then I choose e simpler, but wrong, accomodation ;D
So it will stay as is....
as for the colour of the hatches.... fortunately I am still in time to amend! thank you very much, I really thougt it was metal!
thank you again

Great progress on the interior Edo. You achieved a lovely weathered fuel tank!
For me the warning regarding the hatched holes comes too late. Annoying, but anyway, it’s hard to see it on the inside.

Good work till now. I may be wrong, but looking at Edgar's picture the inner ring of the maintenance hutch looks a metal plate, while looking at some pictures in the Nieuport Windsock Datafile is visibly plywood. I think it's possible that different batches had different parts or a field modification was applied with a metal reinforcement. I'm going anyway to modify the colour on my one, as probably the original configuration was an all plywood skin.

Lovely work, Edo! I'm enjoying your cockpit deteailing very much and learning so much about this famous aircraft at the same time! I will follow this build carefully! Regards, Marc

„and speaking of woodgrain, I would like you help on the propeller: were french props as laminated as the german ones? or were they more uniform in colour as the british ones?
Edo, what I learned from Xan is that French props were painted with a red brown color that covered all the wood grain.

I hope that helps.

thank you guys! your comments are always appreciated!
ahahh! Borsos! thank you very much! so it is useless for me to simulate wood grain... this really helps!
thank you again!

Really like how the pit turned out Edo , very nicely done . The carpet monster will always be lurking ..waiting ..snickering for that one part to go flying . I have hard wood flooring in my house . No carpet but yet the carpet monster still remains :-[
Nice job on the engine wiring . Once the engine is in place no would be able to notice it . Good save Edo :)

Terrific painting and subtle shading, lovely cockpit, and the engine is gorgeous!

Great update Edo, fantastic all around.

Very good detail painting in the cockpit, Edo. Thanks for bringing up the prop color, as I am building a French plane, also.

Great update!! That jumped ahead!!

Nice work!!

Looking good Edo ! :)

Edo this is exceptionall good. The pulseometer and extra pipework, together with the turnbuckles in the cockpit take this to a level of modelling which can only come from a master modeller. It may not be easy but you make it look as though it is.
Stephen.
-
thank you Stephen!
you are too good!
in the mean while, I closed and painted the fusolage, tonight i’m going to fix the upper wing.... new pics over the week end! ;)

Hi edo wich colors will you use for the camouflage?
I used gunze H340 Field green et de gunze H75 darks sea grey for green, and gunze H406 chocolat brown.
For light blue it is all free, no one knows the blue it was... (no pics, no paints, no fabric piece)
Xan
-
hi Xan!
i usually mix my own colours, so I am never realistic, but more on the artistic licence side...
i use tamyia acrilics, in this case i used flat earth + 30% black and nato green + 50% white. don’t count much on that proportions even... ;D
i’ll try to post some pictures later....
ciao

Wonderful progress !

Hi all! it has been a while, but now I can show you some progress...
I was distracted by another project, so little progress on this one, indeed it was stalled since I wanted to take some picture before finish...

I didn’t see that for a while. What a shame, it is simply amazing! I love the colors you mixed as I love the weathering.

Really shaping up wonderful Edo . Rigging turned out super as well . What did you use for your turnbuckles ?
Terri
-
thank you guys!
i really appreciate your comments!
Terri, i made the turnbuckles with brass tube (0.5 mm diameter the one my stash is running low....) and copper wire
hope to show you some picture of the finished model soon...

Hi all,
at last I am here to report my last pictures of this buid.
I took some 'artistic' licenece as I wanted a spot of colour on my model... so I hope you'll be patient with me...
I also whant to say it again, this is a great model indeed and an I hope CSM will keep on producing such gems also in the future! :)

ciao

Very nicely done ! You are certainly correct about the quality of the kit and I agree wholeheartedly about hoping for future CSM kits in this scale! The white cowling does add a bit of extra color to the scheme 8)

That is beautiful, Edo!

A beauty Edo for sure. Great rendition of a remarkable wee aeroplane. Congratulations!

A great looking model, Edo. The delicate rigging gives me the impression of what a 'kite' these planes were.
