Well done Frank,

It isn’t easy to get the wingtips so neat!

Guy

Agree completely! Mine usually look like wrinkled fabric  :-[ I hope you get the fuselage back in order soon!

Fokker D.VII OAW Leusch, Eduard 1/48, Update 19.5.2019 Lower wing

Lower wing

After a lot of different things, exhibitions, private things etc I was able to continue on this project.

As next step I have done the lower wing.

After underside I added panel of fabric after panel of fabric on top:

After careful trimming this is the result of the underside:

... and the top side:

After a layer of Future I started to add the rib tapes:

Later I added also one to the front.

But to get a good result on wing tips requires really patience ???

I will add Sol to work overnight.

This was again a very time consuming task, but I like the outcome.

Cheers,
Frank

Thank you Rick! The result looks nice, but the decals needs careful handling (needs lot's of time).

Struts

A small vital sign, I'm still working on this little Fokker.

I tried the yellow: since WNW says crome yellow (yellow + a bit of orange) I used a chrome yellow from MRP.
The landing gear was equipped with metal axles, so the wheels are sitting in right angle.

Distance between wheels can be adjusted.

Then I continued with the struts. I added 0.3mm brass pins to this filigree struts. Matching holes drilled into fuselage.

Dry fitting: struts are holds the wing without glue!

Primed white for the yellow paint.

Also the outer N-struts are "brassed" and fits perfectly.

Now I'm adding lozenge decals to the ailerons.

The manual says to do it later, but drilling is easier now and the final mounting is easy.

Cheers,
Frank

Thank you Rick, Manni, Gaz, Steve and Juan!
Your nice words are very meaningful for me. My own impression with this project is, that the progress is not that as it should be.
Now I should finish the cockpit for closing the fuselage.

I wish I had your talent!!
Rick, your Fokker looks very nice, and the dark green fuelage stripes on your Fokker D.VII "#4' are the best representation I know so you don't need to understate your talent!

Cheers,
Frank

Fokker D.VII OAW Leusch, Eduard 1/48, Update 7.6.2019 Cockpit

Cockpit

From time to time I worked on the small parts for the cockpit.

Lozenge decals inside, covered with linen paint.

The seat was thinned and after I have seen Ricks Fokker I painted linen too. Belts a from a Eduard Steel-Set.

The prepainted panel got more wooden color and additional PE. The Kristal Klear is not yet dry on the picture.

The floor was painted in acryl too followed by Clear Orange. The weathering is missing on this picture.

Eduard has done a nice throttle, but I added a control wire from 0,1mm nickel silver.

Addional "clocks":

All parts together creating a nice cockpit. The last picture of the open fuselage.
Oh yes, I added control wires too.

That is the working place of a Fokker D.VII pilot. All from the kit or Eduard own (very nice!) accessories.
Fuselage is closed now.

Cheers,
Frank
