I tried a couple of streaking techniques in practice on sheet styrene, and wasn't happy with the results until I found this link. Turns out it's really very easy to do, and the oils are very easy to work with and forgiving. If you aren't happy with how your streaking looks as you apply it, you can just add and blend more color, or simply wipe it all off and start again.
Steve, the "fast-drying" oils still take a couple of days to dry completely, and I usually give them even more to be sure before I seal with Future. I have heard that adding an art product called Liquin, a drying accelerator, helps speed up drying a great deal, but I haven't tried it yet. Maybe on the Voss F.1, which is the next one on my Dreidecker list.
