Des,

I found the miller for sale on the LathesUK website which is great resource for information on lathes, milling machines etc of all sizes & periods.

There's a small section on Stevens which shows a different mill. John Stevens email address is there as well.

http://www.lathes.co.uk/stevens/

The chap I bought it off built N gauge railway stuff but was also a self-confessed precision machine tool collector. He never used the one he sold me so it's effectively brand new although built a couple of years ago. He sold it as he's ordered a larger miller from Stevens (still a small one though I guess). My miller is one of just 2 of it's type made of although I gather there's no reason why more can't be produced.

As the Lathes UK website mentions, John Stevens apparently will produce machines to order with features required by the customer.

It's a bit of an indulgence but none the less it's a delight to have something that's beautifully made & most importantly can work to fine tolerances. The photo below shows the head tilt.

Regards
Russell

This arrived last week - just about to perform a fiendish modification on one of Otto's wheels  ;)

It's a tiny milling machine made by John Stevens of London who makes various types of machines & tooling for watchmakers & modellers.

OMG this is a beautiful machine Russell.
I wish I had one.

I've exchanged emails with John S, he is pretty much up for building any sort of miniature machine tool you might fancy...

I fancy one like Russell's.  How much is he quoting?

It ain't cheap :) Didn't ask for one exactly like Russell's, so I can't say, but... let's say a fairly large pile of Otto's tires would need to be sacrificed...

Hey Bo, large pile of Otto's tyres already sacrificed, including the fat man himself.  I'm also considering a Proxxon MF 70 micro mill with some add-ons.  Not as pretty as Russell's but may be helpful with the little WW1 Russian Armoured Cars.

I still wish I had Russell's thing.

p.s.  Got a HpH Macchi today (stunning kit) and a photo from Ira in Texas.  He's teasing me with his Fokker Dr.I (nearly finished)

p.p.s  Russell doing a "..fiendish modification on one of Otto's wheels" Please remind the fiend that Otto offers a spoked wheel repair and re-lacing service  ;D

Little Russian Armoured Car (Fiat-Omsky Twin Gun 1919)

Got one or three of these in the post.  Modellers of the world unite!

Not my latest acquisition, but since we're talking about mills, I have a Sherline vertical mill. It's not cheap but it's a pretty nice precision bit of kit and can be found pretty easily online.

Well Steve, if they are as nice as the Alby wheels I got recently they must be VERY nice! I'm a happy little camper!
