This arrived whilst I was away last week..

Interestingly the package arrived (safely) in an outer box, with paper packing material - but the kit box here was folded flat and the contents separate in their bags in the posting box.  I have assembled the kit box for storage in my stash.

The kit is as expected from previous reviews - a fair bit of flash, bent white metal parts etc but nothing that cannot be corrected with care.  Basic instructions but they do refer to the Windsock datafile for the 504K, which I have ordered today - spent the half price saving on the kit by doing that, but I'll then have the reference book for future use too.

1/700 scale HMS Engadine seaplane carrier. resin kit with photo etched and steel parts, and decals

Comes with parts to make two Sopwith Babies (27 parts each) and two Short 184 seaplanes (approx 41 parts each), plus decals.

The planes are tiny, 11mm wingspan for the Babies and 28mm for the Short 184s (thats about an inch)

The size of the parts is a but daunting, they are really really small  :o

Images of the finished model from the net:

Reference books:

Late war shot of HMA Engadine in camouflage (digitally cleaned up by me to remove the warship above the stern)

HMS Engadine was a seaplane tender, converted from the cross-Channel packet ship SS Engadine. She was initially fitted with temporary hangars for three seaplanes for aerial reconnaissance and bombing missions in the North Sea and participated in the unsuccessful Cuxhaven Raid in late 1914. A more thorough conversion in 1915 increased her capacity to four aircraft. Engadine was then transferred to the Battlecruiser Fleet and participated in the Battle of Jutland in 1916 when one of her aircraft flew the first heavier-than-air reconnaissance mission during a naval battle. She was transferred to the Mediterranean in 1918.

Could make a nice forced perspective diorama with a 72nd scale Sopwith Baby or Short 184 as the main subject. Won't be working on it any time soon however.

Bought from Choroszy Modelbud for 189 zl which came to NZD$80 including postage

What a fantastic purchase James, should make up to be an excellent model, tiny tiny aeroplanes though.
