Another nice one of your multi builds!

But Extra Thins as decal setter is a bit hardcore :o
Rick, there are children watching! Dear children, please do not copy! ;D

Your paint and decal work looks very good, Rick.  You sure know how to work those strippers.   ;D

Thanks Ken! I Hope My wife doesn't learn of My proficiency with strippers  ;D

Thanks Frank ! As for the Extra thin, I was Desperate. I only had Tamiya Decal setting solution which is really mild. So Children use Tamiya Extra Thin Cement at your Own Risk  ::) If one is careful and uses it sparingly it works!

I have progressed not only on the Roden Viper SE but also the re-build of the Encore bird. I painted the radiator/ Nose of the Grinnell- Milne SE red. I have attached and in the case of the other SE repaired the landing gear and wheels. I will now proceed to weather both!

Hi Rich,
Regards decal conforming.
If most standard decal solutions are not very effective, I have used 'Tamiya' X20A acrylic thinners.
If applied sparingly and left to work, it can soften and seal the decal into shape.
I've found it good on thick 'Tamiya' decals.
This is also handy for conforming decal over small, raised detail, such as wing strut attachments, wing foot boards and pre-moulded panels etc.

Catching up Rick: super progress on both models. I would never had thought of using Tamiya extra thin on transfers - even in a diluted form!

Thanks for the Tip Mike! I do have some X20A so next time I will give that a Try before I use Xtra Thin  ;D

So Frank sent Me a PM regarding My build of Schweinhund. I guess I should explain My reasoning on this one. In His Book G-M states that After the Armistice He was flying Schweinhund (III) He mentions that the "Nose" is painted red and does not say the fuselage. I think that there is a better than even chance that Near the end of the war He had the radiator / front painted red and only later was the rest done in this manner. I am also convinced by photos provided by Alex Revell that their is a "Blue" or Black W on the underside of the wing. In addition the serial number is visible on the rudder. ( repainted from the fuselage at Squadron level.)Many SE5as from 56 at this period painted the squadron marking over the fuselage serial and added it to the rudder also.
RAGIII

Here are the photos provided by Alex in a personal E Mail to Me before they were ever published. This is as of January 1919. Note that "Schweinhund" was Not Present on the right fuselage. If one enlarges the second photo the serial # C 1149 is visible although washed out by strong light. I also think that a W can barely be made out on the lower wing of the first although it is really fuzzy!

PS: These photos obviously show the aircraft after the total repaint.....perhaps  :-\

PPS: I think we can all agree that the red overpaint did not give that "Pristine" appearance we normally see on Models  8)

Hi Rich,
Interesting second photograph.
Rather than daylight washing out the rudder serial number, I wonder if the rudder was over painted in white, as it seems on the wheel covers?.
Normally the rudder red and blue stripes would show as being very dark, almost black in colour, which wouldn't be affected by daylight or the film used.
