That is excellent work ! I thought I was good for having done that seat back/bulkhead in 1/32nd scale. Thanks for the reality check  ::) Your 1/72nd version is awesome!

Every so often I come across a post here on the forum that has a higher "Wow!" factor than average... and this is definitely one of them. Amazing work, Ian, I'm really looking forward to seeing this project standing on all four rims!

Thanks for the comments Dutch and Rick, much appreciated!

Hi all!

I may have been quiet, but the printer has been working overtime as I tried to find the right settings.

Here are the brake drums..

There was a little bit of distortion to the roundness where the supports were, but I think it's acceptable after a bit of sanding down.

Rims look good, but I foresee a lot of drilling....60 spokes on each of the 5 wheels!

I have also completed the jig, adding a support to keep the hub at the right height, and guide markings around the edge which match every 4th spoke to help get the threading right without constant recounting.

The other task now completed, which took a while but has no visible outcome as yet, was to work out the spoke numbering so I can thread them correctly. Only final threading will show whether I have got that correct or not!

That's it for now,
Thanks for looking in!

Sorry I've been quiet here, I haven't been idle though.

Although I had hoped to build this OOB, I knew the chances were slim! Having said that, modifications will be minimal.
I will use MiniWorld guns, and have made a new seat back, as the kit item was not accurate. I've also thinned the area inside the semi-circular cutout under the nose and, using a sharp blade, moved the front edge of the plastic behind the cutout back a little to give the correct "lip" all the way around.

So here's what I've got done so far.

A little interior paintwork to start with

and I found a spare instrument panel that I'd designed for the DH9. It just so happened that it fitted nicely after filing off the windscreen mount!

Some of the detail was removed and the gap at the left was widened....

Not perfect, but it will do the job!

The seat back was not correct, as mentioned, so I made a new one from stock Evergreen.

The seat bottom is the kit part and will be fitted separately.
It should look something like this

I also ran out of PC10, so more has been ordered from Misterkit. I have some misgivings here though. I love their paints, but too many of them have gone off before I even opened them. If the same happens again, I will find another supplier....

Thanks for looking in,

Ian

Great to see you joining in! Is this the "Last in the Stash" or the "Last Purchased" ?  Either way it's a great kit from what I have seen!

Very nice!  It is an unusual and unique piece of U.S. armor from a different time of design philosophy, etc.

I've decided when I get my current a/c off of the bench, I'm going to build a piece of armor, or at least have one piece or armor, softskin, etc. on the go as a mojo rejuvenator.

What a gorgeous little a/c!  Wonderful work you've done sir.

I'd like to see how you use that .4 mm tape.
