I have been working on the tail. I tried two types of turnbuckle. Up top, I used stretched earbud shaft and then painted gunmetal and brass. Below I used the Des Delatore method of brass tube. I'm hesitant to overdo it with the tube, as it tends to be a good deal thicker than the rigging lines, and just sort of looks like it's dangling there. In this instance I thickened the line with some silver paint.
Pretty crude in comparison to what some of y'all are doing, but I think I'm happy with it.
Still need to add detail to the skid, flat coat the tail, and then add some kind of filter to tie in the brown scuff marks. These were supposed to represent exposed wood, but look more like dirt. Oh well.
