The Albatros translucent effect is awesome. I am looking forward to what you do with the Taube!

Hi everybody,

a small update on my work on the fuselage. I painted the fuselage in unbleached linen with Tamiya XF57 and the interior in grey green with lightened XF76. For the bracing wires my choice came to EZ Line fine elastic thread. The line was fixed with C/A Gel and 0.5 Albion brass was added.

Finally the wire was painted with XF 16 Flat aluminum

Great work on your bracing lines!  I opted to not add turnbuckles to mine due to limited visibility but they sure do make a nice touch.

Cheers,
Eric

Good argument, Eric. Currently I am not sure if I want to display my Taube with open cowlings or not. So I took the long way...

Cheers and get well soon!

some pictures of my work on the cockpit. First the instrument board and the floor were sprayed with Tamiya buff lightened with white. After a coat of gloss varnish I used different oil paints like burnt umbra, english red, burned sienna and black.

After a few days a coat of clear orange followed.

Cheers, Dirk

While working on the cockpit and adding the intrument placards, I found this humorous message linked to Peter Jacksons side projects  ;)

Decal no 38 is a navigators memo to be postitioned on the map board. I used my zoom function of my digicam to get the exact position of the decals. While checking the decal #38 I found this:

The text is partially in german language:

"Hinweise auf Graeben
2 km westlich von Artillerie"
-------------------------------------------------------
"Suche Standort fuer den Herr der Ringe Teil 4"
------------------------------------------------------------
"Pick-up ein paar Bier fuer die Jungen"

In translation:

"Hints for ditches
2 km west of artillery"
------------------------------
"Searching for location for Lord of the Rings part 4"
-----------------------------------------------------------
"Pick-up some beers for the boys"

Well that's humor! Hats off Peter Jackson!  :)

Hi everybody,

some pictures of the finished cockpit before mounting the seatbelts. The leather effect has been achieved with oil colors

Cheers,
Dirk
