Toby, the engine looks great as does the cowling! I think the Misterkit color is actually called Jasta 11 red. That being said I think there is a lot of wiggle room when it comes to color...JMHO,

RAG you are correct it is Jasta II red.
Engine and nacelle now joined together.

Wood finish applied to inside of fuselage. I used Vallejo natural wood as an undercoat and then dry brushed their transparent woodgrain on top. I may well use a thin gloss varnish on top to put some shine into the wood.

Also I've put backing on the handholds I'd cut out as the interior of the fuselage is not visible via them.
Once I've painted the outside I'll add a wash into them to give them some depth.

One side of the fuselage interior done. I thought I'd photograph it on a white back ground but it confused the camera and looks darker than it is. Next time I'll adjust the exposure settings to compensate.....or use a darker background. :D

The prop is now done.
First I painted on Vallejo natural wood.

Then I did a topcoat of Vallejo woodgrain

I then masked it and repainted with natural wood

To finish I did a top coat of a mix of woodgrain and transparent orange

I will do a gloss varnish later once the decals are on. There are some blemishes but then wood has blemishes so that's my excuse for them.

Beautiful results, you show here. I will take this as reference for the Schuckert in my stash.

Thank you very but there are better ones especially from Lance. I'm using his as my go to reference.

I dunno, Toby, yours looks pretty nice to my eyes! (and unlike me you didn't go into all thumbs & fists mode and break it!) You are doing a splendid job on this, I'm really enjoying your progress.
Cheers,
Lance

I think both of your builds are great and worth following when building a Siemens Shuckert, two very well build models, each in its own sense.
(I can't help but a teacher always stays a teacher  ;))

P. S. thanks for the hint with the mister kit paint. Sounds like worth a try!

Thanks all. That was my first attempt at making a "wooden" prop. I'll change a couple of  things next time re masking. Best to do one side at a time.
Most of the port side is now done but will add some plumbing later.
