1/48 oef albatros eduard
« on: January 03, 2017, 09:54:33 AM »
i started this one probably 2 years ago, finished it then it hit the floor and hasnt been touched for some time. i updated some details, repaired damage and re-assembled/rigged her over the last month or so. i have been working so much havent had time for much modelling but have for some time wanted to complete this guy. mostly an oob situation . everthing is hand painted(no airbrush) including the woodgrain which is my own oddball hybrid method. comments more than welcomed.

Absolutely gorgeous, Scott!  Funny, I'm working on one of these at the moment.
Cheers,
Bud

That's a real beauty, Scott, and a testament to your recovery skills. I'd have never guessed it had suffered a mishap. Outstanding brushwork, as well. Bravo!

You can see the scars especially in the photos but I don't care it looks decent on the shelf. I just noticed a couple things I need to do.1st I forgot the 2 rigging lines from the nose to the bottom of the interplanes. Also the tail skid was snapped I replaced it but forgot I still have to wrap the cord/bungee around the base. I did also add a copper wire as a line to the aux tank in the upper wing. It comes out of the port forward fuselage right in front of the combing. the fabric effect on the wings was achieved by many layers of brushed paint at opposing angles in conjunction matt cotes along with multiple washes and different colors of dry brushing.

Right, it is great to see you finished one! Very fine build, save included! A good old school is showing, handpaint looks much better then many airbrushing cases. Congratulations, Scott.

Wow, how good that you saved it, I would never have seen any scars on it. That I call resurrection! Very convincing wood and linnen effects!

This is a great model, Scott! There are some beautiful effects in your paintwork, the wings especially show a fine and delicate touch - more power to your brush! Very convincing textures and a realistic feel, I like it very, very much... All The Best, Marc
