Sweet, I have the Super Scale sets and two of the three have misspellings on the tail fin.  Ponds s/b Poids and Combutible s/b Combustible, not too noticeable but you would think someone would have caught that.  I guess those two years of High School French so long ago did not go to waste.

Your Nieuport is continuing to look outstanding. I did the same as you when assembling the wings by gluing the Cabanes first, then the interplane struts. Looking forward to your soon to be tightened rigging!

I have a question. This hole in the wheel cover, what is it for? I didn't find any info about it.

It's for the inner tube valve stem.

Hello Jurgen:

As mentioned, the camouflage turned out nicely.  Normally the seat on this airplane was strips of birch (I think), however, I am sure that the wicker seat you have would have been a field expedient replacement and looks nice in the cockpit.  This is one of my favorites.  It was one of the first WWI kits in 1/32nd I built and I will be doing another.  Your build will be a reference for me.
Looking forward to your next update.

It's time for experiments! ;) :o 8)

As I had already written, the Nieuport serves me a little as a test rabbit in the tension ropes. As can be seen in the pictures in the last update, the plan was to realize all tension cables by self-twisted copper wires. But as always, plan and reality are two different things. On the basis of the quite soft plastic of the Roden kits, it has been found that the struts are bent too much when tensioned. So I decided for a mix. WNW elastic material is used for the double wires. Since these are still disguised, it is not particularly noticeable that they have no "wire character". Short info, why these double wires were disguised. The designers wanted to improve the aerodynamics and avoid a twisting of the closely juxtaposed wires.
The clamps at the cable ends were made of brass or carbon tubes.

It should have been for the moment. In the next update, you will see the clad wires, and the rest of the tension.

Hallo Jürgen,
nice to see that you are open minded for some testing. At the moment I am not so convinced with the result of the twisted copper wires, but may be they look better, when painted.

Hello again!
The cladding of the double tension wires is unfortunately not yet to see, since I want to try something else. But the rest of the tension is ready. As already mentioned, this model serves me as a "test rabbit" when processing different materials. The self-twisted wires have a certain charm, but even on this scale are not quite as I had hoped. In order to stretch it properly clean, a certain pull is required. And there are small problems with the connection to the plastic parts, since at least at Roden the material is quite soft. Just as the tension is now, it does not look optimal, but comes close to my ideas halfway. Nevertheless, I will swing back in the future with the old fashioned style with elastic yarn. Only with the Spad of Merit (1/24), which I have just received, I will try it because of the size probably with self-made wires. But of course this will be a new building report. Now still fast 4 pictures of the tension.

On the close-ups, of course, this looks quite crude, but in normal view, this is all right.

Have a nice day!

Jürgen

For experimental work this looks very good. It is only by trying out ideas that we will ever learn whether they can work - good for you for trying.

Stephen.

Today I made the first decals. Excuse me, but these things are bullshit >:(. Although I have the decals with Decal Medium coated, they do not fix themselves properly, and tear quite fast.
Shit happens. :-X

Looks really great to me! Your rigging is very well done and in spite of your decal issues they look terrific!

Jurgen,
As I've said before elsewhere the first step I take with Roden decals is to the garbage can! They are indeed useless, I'm surprised that it appears you got them done and they look so good. Lovely Nieuport, you've done a great job on her!
Cheers,
Lance
