Fantastic work. Your aging of the surfaces is very, very good. Yet another WNW plane I'd like to try. But I better finish one first.

Thanks for sharing,
Alistair

Gorgeous work Andreas! Your engine detailing and worn wood effect are perfect!

Hey Borsos!
The engine turned out great! but what astonishes me is the wood grain and the hue you obtained: to me it is simply perfect!

The wood grain is really excellent, as well as the engine, very well done, Borsos.

Cheers

Outstanding job on the engine, Borsos, and the rest as well. Your weathering and particularly the final "dust and grease" you applied is exceptional, great work!
Cheers,

Totally agree with all the above, especially Lance. The engine looks worn but still completely serviceable - a fantastic effect.

Thank you all very much for your very kind comments!

After I had experienced some quite frustrating failed trials on my group building project (I hate motorcycles from now, but that's another story) I took the opportunity to get these here a little bit forward.

and the other one - my one - with engine covers:

Nothing can be seen any more of my weathering on the engine... Well at least we've got the pictures... and the undying memory... Honestly: normally I don't care about details that can't be seen, but I didn't expect the engine covers to cover up the engine that perfectly without leaving any small gap to look inside. Besides of that ironically the engine covers are the only parts where fitting issues occured. This kit seems to be made for leaving them off. Everything else fits like a dream. This is actually the best kit I have ever build yet (until now). Although the engine compartment looks quite complex with all of its details it was just a joy to build and everything fell together. The outstanding quality of the WNW kits is obvious here too.
Another minor change on my B II is, that I had sanded down the diameter of the wheels a little bit to bring them closer to the datafile drawings. The wheels seem a little too fat compared to the scale plans in the datafile. I also used other PE spokes, because I counted the number of the spokes on original photos, compared their number with the kit-PE-sets and found out that two spokes are missing. so I couldn't go on building with a wrong number of spokes..... OK, OK, really, I crushed the kit PE spokes with my clumsy hands and was happy to have some spare PE spokes from an older PART set that fit the kit's wheels quite well.
At last I replaced the connections between cabane struts and upper wings with brass rod. The plastic parts looked too tiny in my eyes and I think I would have broken them within the shortest time.
I hope you like it!

As usual Borsos, your work is outstanding.  You counted the spokes, you are a better man than I.

Thank you very much Juan!
But no, I didn't count the spokes. I was just kidding, I had destroyed the kit PE spokes by pure stupidity so I had to find a replacement... ::)

I like everything you have done on this model, including your exquisite photographs. Your description of how well the engine went together and then got covered up with the cowling made me smile. This happens so much to us modellers. Another pleasurable WnW build eh? Glad to hear your continuing story on this one. Such nice work.
Cheers,
Gary

Wow, Andreas!  That is some seriously tasty paint and decal work!  And the photography ain't too shabby either.  Brilliant in every way.
Cheers,
Bud
