Nieuport 11
« on: June 22, 2016, 08:57:32 PM »
Friends,

one of my future dreams might be a little "Bebe". As i build in 1/32 (exclusively, due to my eyes), and the only kit available seems to be the one from Special Hobby and me not being able to find a review for said kit:

What's the general opinion on Special Hobby's kit of the Nieuport 11? Is there aftermarket stuff available (is there a need for AM stuff)?

Stefan

Hello Stefan,
here is a Review of the 1/32nd Amodel Nieuport 11. Maybe it helps.

I do have both in my stash. Both kits look quite nice. The huge advantage of the Special Hobby kit is, that there's the great resin 80hp lerhone engine within the kit  (besides some other resin stuff). The a-model Kit just has an injection molded engine which I personally would replace for resin. Besides of that is the a-modell cowling a two piece affair, while the SH cowling is moulded in one piece.
As far as I know there's no AM stuff around for the Nieuport 11. But as pretty this machine is as simple is it. So I don't see the need for AM items.

Stefan, I built a Special Hobby bébé a while back and found it a really enjoyable
build with no problems that I remember.  I am sure you would have a great time
and end up with a gorgeous model.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

I have the sh 11 its a decent kit.it does have nice resin parts for fuel and oil tanks awa throttle. I found the resin engine to look a bit undernourished in the cyl area. I got a WNW 80 HP le rhone and it llooks the part to me but I would get an am engine.

The Nieuport 16 and 11 are almost the same kits (16 just means headrest and 110hp)...

hes right though its the 16 is just an 11 with a 110hp lerhone instead of 80hp lerhone and headrest. also the 16 sometimes had the le prieur rockets mounted on the struts.
