A brilliant job Lance, the rigging is excellent, appears the third hand is worth its weight in gold.

vB, Ernie, Borsos, Gary and Des,
Thanks for your great comments, very much appreciated! :)
The Third Hand is a great concept, I find it near perfect as an aid to the rigging process.
Cheers,
Lance

Lovely work Lance - great to see your latest update!

Ran into a couple of old acquaintances last weekend, perhaps you know them? Ross and Bud Granley??
Cheers,
Gary

Gary, Terri, Thanks for checking this out, and for commenting. Gary, I met them briefly when I coordinated the Airshow here in the early 90's (there's dating all of us!) and they were Performers. They and the three Peitches out of Montana were the real "pros" that I leaned on throughout the big day!
Just about done this one, it's been a long haul with too many interruptions!
Cheers,
Lance

I wouldn't dare using those angles with the third hand tool. I would be too afraid of slippage (and loosing a beutiful aircraft in the resulting crash).

Thank you Manni, your comments are encouraging and most welcome! Stefan, the Third Hand is a very secure mount for the aircraft, the steel base weighs several pounds and the magnetic attachment mechanism is so strong it cannot be broken with hand force, at least not mine. That's how I managed to break off the vertical stabilator, there's absolutely no "give" if you bump into the model and something has to move!

Lance

Just to add my two cents worth: I've also got the Third Hand and I've tried it out on my Biff. It's very secure and solid. It will come into its own when the model gets turned upright to fix the rigging into place on the lower wing.  8)
Cheers!

The blustery weather here for the past several days provided time to get serious about completing the final touches on this Build. Progress was good with only a few minor bumps along the road to completion.
The Rudder got installed and then the rigging of the flight control cables completed.

Next the coolant line and vent stack were added to the upper wing overflow tank location using copper wire and a 0.5mm tube respectively:

The landing gear was touched up and the bungees shaded a bit with very thin Winsor Newton "Lampblack" Oils:

The Ailerons were then mounted using the earlier installed stainless wire pins and then the control cables rigged. At this point fat, stupid, and uncontrolled fingers entered the equation and I had to replace several of the runs. With the addition of the two lower wing to nose cowling wires, the prop, and an hour of touch ups she was complete.

She's not without her share of "warts" as we label some less then perfect components, I'm still in pursuit of that perfect model we all hope for and rarely achieve. Several of the turn buckles are out of alignment with the lines a bit; I did redo a few however I found the Gas Patch buckles don't tolerate bending and when they break it's near impossible to get a clean fix!
So here's the completed Build this morning:

I'll take some photos later for the Completed Models section. A very nice kit and a pleasure to build, exactly in line with Wingnut Wings outstanding quality!
Cheers,
Lance
