That prop is simply first rate Lance. And since you showed how it is done, there isn't much excuse not to try it. I am just awful at painting props, especially the ones with light and dark laminations. This looks like a way better option to me. Love the photo of the prop blank with all the shavings.

Outstanding job. I've tryed to carve propellers, but never achieving this perfection: really inspiring.

Thanks Des, your comments appreciated as always! :)
Thanks also, gbrivio and sp. Until recently I used a small oscillating drum sander to do the shaping but I find hand carving much easier and more controllable. I did a short Tutorial on this several years back on the Forum, try the link below if you're interested.

Thanks for pointing to that tutorial, very nice. I love those props! They are really very well carved. I use quite a similar technique but I never used my dremel tool for that. I'll try it out, seems to be much easier than sanding everything by hand - cool :)!

Borsos,
I only use the Dremel with the small sanding drum close to the hub now, where the curves are pretty sharp and tight. For this last one I didn't use it at all. Since doing the Tutorial I've gravitated to using the knife with a #11 Blade more and more.
Cheers,
Lance

Thank you for the tutorial, is relly well done. I will try to retouch my first propellers to get a more realistic shape based on your suggestions.

Great! Thanks for the tutorial! I will try that later. I always kept an eye on those props, but I was too greedy to buy one. Now I will try to make one on my own.

"von B" and Rick,
Thanks for looking and commenting, much appreciated. Progress has ground to a halt as a myriad of minor "real life" issues take precedence, hopefully I'll get some serious Build time soon! :-\

Lance

Absolutely gorgeous Lance. I love your work.  I have an early and late exhaust from Rexx. Would you like one for this build? If so let me know which and where to take it.

James,
Thanks for your comments and for your kind offer. I finished the kit Late version and added it a few days ago so I'll be OK with it. I'm kind of stalled of late, progress is very slow but I should be able to add an update shortly.

Scott,
....and Thanks for your vote of confidence as well!
Cheers All,
Lance

I've made enough progress to add another update, hopefully this project will progress a bit quicker from this point.
The guns are installed, upper decking completed, chin and side engine cowlings installed and finally the radiator and exhaust. The two front cabane rigging lines were attached to the engine firewall prior to installing the side cowlings.

The lower wing has had 20 Gas Patch Turnbuckles installed, I used the 1:48 ones as I believe the 1:32 versions are over scaled.

The underside of the upper wing has been completed with just eyelets for attachments per the real aircraft.

Finally she's locked into the Magic Third hand; this will be the first time I've used it and I'm really looking forward to trying it out. I'll be attaching all of the lines to the bottom turn buckles before mounting the struts and upper wing.

So far, so good although there's a few handling "scuffs and dings" to be touched up a little further on! Those sharp eyed viewers will pick up on her first significant "wart"; the lightening flash decal isn't quite centered on the fuselage spine, I noticed it during application but it had started to set in place so I decided to leave well enough alone! :-[
Cheers,
Lance

That's actually a pretty Pfalz, I like it very much!
I used a jig for the first time with my Albatros and it was a great help that I do not want to miss any more. You'll see how much better the rigging will work.
All the best with this bird!
