Wow!  Lance my friend, the interior is an absolute gem!  Your attention
to detail is terrific and always takes your models to the next level.  I
am looking forward to the next updates.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Thanks for your comments and encouragement, Guys. The pace will slow a bit now as warmer weather makes Spring clean up of the yard less avoidable; a rake or shovel are more likely in my immediate future then a hobby knife this fine day! :(

Lance

Great start on the cockpit, Lance. The scribing on the fuselage wall is a nice thing to note. I'll have to wait until my second build on this since mine's buttoned up now!

And I probably won't buy a second one until Richard releases a custom set of lozenge decals for this thing - the rib-taping is going to take forever!

Cheers,
Gary

   Thanks Chris.
I'll admit that I find rib taping just slightly less thrilling then a root canal as well, Gary. On the other hand I find the "cookie cutter" type of decals harder to work with then the "handraulic" approach with strips and tapes, more margin for error with the latter method. I do have Richard's Roland D.VI custom set and will use it when I get to that Build, perhaps practice will make more perfect!
Cheers,
Lance

Lance,

I would like to learn more about those veneer strips. What width did you use (do you have any measurements within your documentation?)?

Stefan,
I used a thin piece of evergreen Sheet Styrene as a straight edge guide for the RB Productions Scriber shown in the original photo. The spacing was based on a photo of Frank Talman's 7511/18 in Windsock Worldwide Vol.27 No. 5 of Sept. Oct. 2011 in Ray Rimell's Build article. I used 4.5mm spacing based on the comparison to the Bosch Magneto in the photo. Out of curiosity I just measured the width of the strips on the D.IIIa Kit in my Stash, it's less then 3mm.
If you don't have the Windsock issue there's a photo of the fuselage behind the seat of the Australian survivor, 2600/18 on page 4 of the Plans Booklet that shows the untouched original finish, and the wider strips.
There is another very good photo in Datafile 41, pg. 28, upper left which shows the cockpit of 2600/18 with the wide strips however they are vertical as opposed to diagonal......?? The production line photos from the Factory show a diagonal lamination of the fuselage shell, maybe the angles differed from one airframe to the next?
 Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Lance

Hi Lance

Logo in the post!
I have included basic instructions for transferring the vinyl logo from it's backing paper to your desired surface. Enjoy!

Its not that cold Mr Von Buckles. The ice has sunk down a good few inches and there is open water to be seen lol.

Good points James; we did have Summer today, I actually had an ale on the deck in my shirt sleeves! I'm hoping to see a Humming Bird or two before the Fall, next week!  :-\Actually, if we don't get some rain real soon we may be moving south anyway, just ahead of the wild fires!
Cheers,
Lance

That's way too much distraction. Back to the modelling bench, Sir!
