Gotha GIV "Der letzte Flug" (Last flight) [WNW 1:32]
« on: May 12, 2016, 04:34:10 PM »
Dear friends,
I promised to Show you my latest Project of my Gotha.
First I will Show you some WIP Pictures.
The story behind this scene is (maybe) real.
in the night from 10th to 11th November 1916 the MoRoTas Gotha crashed down into a farm house in the near of Gent (Belgium).
My Intension was to Show what happend shortly before it crashes.
There was an Explosion on the starboard engine that blew of the cowling and destroyed the prop. The cowling smashes in the water and drives off the geese.
Sadly I did not take any Pictures of the completed base, were you can read the Story in a newspaper and the conversation of the Crew.
The Scene took me 14 month of work. the tree has 5000 leaves each glued by Hand and the reed was made of whire coffee and 1500 selfmade paper leaves.
On the last EME in Heiden I won a sliver medal and the people's choice award

And here the completed model

Some Detail pics of the groundwork

And the completed Diorama

Here the text that I have printed on Linnen and fixed it on the frontside of the base:

It says:

Lt Mons: We have lost the starboard engine!
Lt. Roland Tasche: There! a field next to the farm!
Uffz. Hermann Tasche: Gentlemen! Hold fast! We go down!

his also explains the Name MoRoTas

and here the newspaper. That says that the plane crashed and only one member surwived.

I hope you like it. if you have any questions, don't heritate to ask me.

Bye,
Manni

Stupendous!

(Good grief, if this took silver, what on earth could the gold have looked like?)

@macsporran
Gold was for a 1:72nd Mig with a Pilot in it an a guy that was standing on the ground with some refuling Equipment. But...that's life in lots of german Forums this was discussed and nobody understood the reason. But the most precious was the people's choice Award (A Merrit Fokker DrI)

Hi Manni.

I think your silver should have been Platinum. Higher than Gold!

Very excellent and fantastic modelling!  :)

Congratulations.

My congratulations again for that masterpiece, the prize is more than well deserved! (I won't say a single word more to judges, I think kornbeef said everything that is to say...)
You made one of the best in-flight dioramas (or better "still in flight" dioramas I've ever seen. The groundwork alone is an artwork in itself. The tree is fantastic and you kept the dynamic motion of this emergency landing perfectly (me, if I had been the pilot, would have dropped my bombs before...).
Of course there are many questions, my first would be: How did you manage static problems? How did you get that huge bird into the air?

I can only repeat what the others have said. That is beyond outstanding! I can't even imagine trying to glue individual leaves.....

Manni:

This is the best diorama I have ever seen, particularly considering the subject and detail.  The photos look absolutely real!  Your skills and careful attention to recreation are amazing.  I have no words to adequately describe your success in this endeavor, other to say you could not have done any better, in my opinion.  You have reached the pinnacle of scenic modeling.  Extremely well done!  Thanks so much for sharing this treat with us. ;D  I will return often to enjoy this one.

Best regards,

Bob

Truly magnificent, Manfred!  As others have said, Best Diorama Ever!  Rest assured that on this forum (and this is the only place that matters, really), you have taken top honors.
Cheers,
Bud
