Hi folks,
 It seems I've put in  lot of time for not much in the way of results. I attempted to blend in the ribs, first with paint, then with Mr Surfacer 1000, neither of which seem to have done the job. The Mr Surfacer seemed to be ok when I applied it, but when it dried, it shrank, and basically left me with nothing more than a grey patch either side of the rib. I have ordered some Mr Surfacer 500 in the hope that it will do the job - if not, it's back to the drawing board.....

Super progress, Ian!  Really excellent work on blending the scarff ring.  It looks
terrific with the wings and tail in place.  I think I would also try the Mr. Surfacer 500
on the wing ribs.  It will be interesting to see how you make out.  With your talent,
I have no doubts of a successful outcome, my friend.

Thanks all,
 The Mr Surfacer  duly arrived and today, along with small bits here and there an my other projects, I applied it along all the rib tapes. It looks a right mess, but I'll clean it up when it's dry and give it a shot of white to see what it looks like...It can always be removed.....

Not much progress today, but I did get the wings cleaned up a bit and a coat of white on them.

Here's how they look now, I'll take a closer look tomorrow to see what, if any, further cleanup is required.

Great job so far. I built one of these years ago when it was packaged as a combo kit with the Roland! Two of a kind!

Only just caught up with this one Ian - somehow I missed it recently. Looks like you had some real fund and games with the wings but it seems also that you have got them into a shape where they can be used. This will be hardly recognisable when you have finished.

It will be a while before any more progress as I now have a job! I'm actually the first Captain with a new start-up airline operated by Rectrix, flying King Air 300s. Plenty of ground school and 15 days in Kansas for training coming up...

much nicer in profine than the kit.isnt it fun to correct the shortcomings of old kits? thats what modelling is about to me.
