Albatros B.II Finished
« on: March 24, 2016, 06:09:06 PM »
Morning (afternoon, evening) all,

Managed to get her finished, not without the usual self inflicted trials and tribulations  ???

From 2 feet away, I'm quite pleased, but she's a little furry around the edges within that! Oh well, it's all a learning curve. I've got the Hannover lined up next, but you can only follow that if you haven't seen Bertl's Hannover thread  ;)

Overall, a very nice kit, I think the best I've built yet. She's fairly delicate to handle but only as Wingnuts have been true to scale on the struts etc. Nice to see the addition of wood decals and wired wheels (although I used neither!!) the wired wheels are very good, but of course don't compare to Steve's lovely custom made ones - I think that's why I didn't use them in the end.

Many thanks to Kornbeef who helped me out by sending me a new prop (lost mine ::)) and the individual exhausts (apologies Keith, but I ended up using the original one - I just preferred the look after all  :P)

She'll be appearing in 'Scale Aviation Modeller' in a future edition (as long as they don't use close ups!  :P)

Thanks for following,

Guy

Guy

This really looks good.

I bet if you were to look closely at most models you would find tiny imperfections including my own!!

One to be proud of mate

Thanks everyone,

George, that's because I've used dark, moody photos   8)

Even by the very high standards shown on this forum this is a very impressive build. You can be very proud of it.

She's looking really very sweet Guy.

And no worries about the exhausts, if I change my mind and need them back I'll shout. Just glad to be able to help.

Just a fantastic build!
I shall never forget my admiration for that German pilot, who single handed, fought seven of us for ten minutes. I saw him go into a fairly steep dive and so I continued to watch, and then saw the triplane hit the ground and disappear into a thousand fragments...James McCudden

You've done it again Guy, just a superb Build all round. The subtle woodwork is particularly eye catching, and as vB pointed out, your CDL work is the best! One to be VERY proud of. 8)
