Yarrr, There be a whalefish! WNW 1:32 Roland C II
« on: February 21, 2016, 10:38:48 AM »
Not much for build logs, but I do take some snapshots here and there.

I've settled on this one for the moment.

Cockpit is just about done.

Just started the motor.

Well back to the bench.

Looks like an outstanding start to me! I like all of your interior work but the leather belts and seat stand out! Excellent.

Your "just about done" cockpit is beautifully executed, spectacular work on the belts and nice clean work! A great start to your Build, I'll be following closely.

Very nice start, I'll be looking forward to how you deal with the external finish as the delicate shade of [blue, white, pale buff - take your pick] is such a feature on these lovely aircraft.

Well done!

Well thanks to everyone for the kind words. I hope to get back at it tonight. I might use too much copper for some of the details but I just really like using copper. Russell I have no idea of how I'm going to interpret the external finish colours. That's kind of why I slowed down on this build.

Not to insult anyone here, but I only bought this kit because it was an easy to build WNW, and had the large side windows that I thought might show off the interior a little better. I didn't realize there is so much controversy about the exterior finish. I might just paint it a very pale blue and call it a day. On my shelf any colour I choose will look fine, but others may have a higher degree of interest in the subject and be uptight about casual approach to painting.

It's your model Ron so you can paint it any colour you like, I'm sure that whatever colour you choose it will look fine, looking forward to more updates.

You won't find anyone here getting uptight about your choice of finish! No-one really knows whether they were blue, white, buff, or any combination if the above! It's your model, interpret it however you like!

This is the same scheme that I'll be using for my Airfix build.

"No-one really knows whether they were blue, white, buff, or any combination if the above!"

I totally agree with Ian's comment; too many folks get "wrapped around the axle" on finish and colour. Was the finish pink or lime green, not likely however fact is, in many cases the answer is lost to time, and in most one educated guess is as good as another! Absolutely lovely job so far Ron, and whether you choose the blue, white, or light buff it will be spectacular.
Cheers,
Lance
