Hi guys!
in 1918 Giuseppe Ungaretti was a private returning from the trenches of the Italian front. He was also a poet eventually becoming one of the best in Italian XX century literarure. As many like him, he was shocked from what he endured in battle and had also the wit to write abut it in a very touching way.
He joined a group of poets called "the ermetics" as they tried to write short, powerful poems. One of his best known is the following (translation is by me, so I hope to make him justice):
We stay
like in autumn
on the trees
the leaves
This very short poem, describes (very well indeed and it has become an everyday sentence in spoken Italian) the situation in which trenchmen lived.
When I saw the pictures below, I was remembered of the poem and decided to give it a try...

So here is my tribute... I know I took a lot of "artistic licence" in this model but I hope to have cought the spirit of it

I hope you enjoy !!
ciao
Edo
