Go George,

Looks a super kit. Will be very interested to see how she turns out. Are you going with the kit's wood decals? How do they look in the flesh? Everyone else's seem to be transparent, but the kit ones seem opaque?

I'm suffering at the moment from lack of modelling fever as we are moving house next week - so my whole set up is currently boxed up!  ???

Hi Guy,
The kits wood decals look very nice! I'm not seeing a lot of grain and pixelization that the W&W ones had. I haven't used them yet, but they seem to be pretty opaque. They look great on the model on WnWs website. I've started with the cockpit so I will be using them on the interior to start with soon. I'll keep you posted.

Glad to see you starting this one, George.  Looking forward to following along and picking up a few pointers.  I'm itchin' to get going on mine, but I've got a DFW and a French subject to finish first.

I signed up for the French GB with a Renault FT17 Light Tank. After my B.II arrived, I decided the tank will have to wait! :)

My reference books just arrived! Now I can really get down to business! :)

I was wondering which book would be better, but I'm glad I got both. They focus on different aspects. The Aero PhotoGallery has great interior cockpit, engine, and many other great close up detail shots. I'm not sure if these are from perfectly accurate replicas, but for the general color, look and feel, they are invaluable. The WS Datafile is pretty standard WS info but will also be helpful.

I have both books. They are both valuable though the mrozowsky book has modern pics of existing original craft. Off the top of my head I want to say the Polish one was built post war and the other was a us trot Hungarian and if memory serves me correctly it is a prototype .that said I would imagine details like the control panels and a few other things may be slightly different then an early war German birdie so I guess try to go off both combined

Thanks for the info, Scott. I know these had a long life span and were built from pre-war through to well after the war. There are a lot of variations in the cockpit details. I'll probably stick closely enough to one of the WnW versions, adding detail where necessary to enhance things, but not stray too far from the basic layout of the IP and interior.

I really like version C in the kit because of the dark wood and color of the linen. But after looking at the books, I think it is possible to do a different version with similar coloring if I make some custom decals. This might be a good idea to make my model a bit more unique since version C seems to be the most popular choice. I don't want to make exactly the same thing as everyone else, if I can help it. 8)
