OK, thanks!  While I've had the kit in the stash for some time, I've not done any research on this a/c. Thanks for explaining that it had cooling jackets around the cylinders. Dan, you're right, they do look really odd, don't they?

All,

I skinned to tops of the wings and they look ok.  I couldn't wait to put some markings on since those colors really pop against the light background. 



I also started fitting the bottom wing.  Looking less like a baby buggy now!  ;D

Thanks, Folks...the encouragement makes the impending rigging worth while!  ::)  Actually, I miss the rigging.  The Junkers J.1 was cool but it seemed blasphemy to not have any rigging at all!

Really starting to look the part.  It will be pretty sturdy too (and straight).  I have several examples of bombers from British and German stables.  Now I finally have a French one on the move.



So far, the only "iffy" part has been the strut holes don't line up making the interplanes canted out on the top wing if I use the holes.  I'm just using those in the bottom and moving them to the vertical on the bottom surface of the top wing.  They look fine.
I'm not sure if this was the kit or the former owner drilling and me just assuming things were correct.  Either way, it's on the mend.

All,

Here it is so far.  I attached most of the rigging I can make out to the appropriate places.  I know there are some rigging points I'm missing, but it's hard to find all the places it's rigged.  I also suspect that there are some variations out there too.  So...this is my interpretation of a "standard".  I'll add some more as I discover what I've missed!  ;D





Now I'll start making the booms out of brass tube and solder.  I'll use the photoetch as patterns.  Based on how nicely things have actually fit on this guy, I don't anticipate too many issues  ;)  Really, only the holes in the interplanes didn't line up.

Thanks for looking.  It will be nice to have this one and the AEG done and side-by-side.  This is a really pretty little machine.
