I see in this morning's Airfix announcement we have details of the prices.

The Eindekker EIII will be £5.99; the BE2c will be £8.99; and a dogfight double gift set  featuring them both is priced at £17.99. That sounds like good value to me.

Best wishes
Nigel

Excellent value Nigel, lets hop that Airfix continues with more new WW1 subjects.

That's great news Nigel, thanks for the update, and as Des said, let's hope they continue to produce more.

there is definitely something VERY odd about that "attachment" to the rear of the cowling.....

Yes, Cajun, we can, and do, expect more in 1:72! Just because it's small scale doesn't mean we accept lower standards.....

Pity they didn't do them in their big 1/24 series.
In sync with the Great War centenary, a Camel, SE5a, Dr.1, DVII, Albatros, SPAD and a Nieuport in big, big scale would be very welcome Mr Airfix, if you happen to be listening......

it was posted above eindecker 5.99 and be2 for 8.99 which is 14.98 pounds. why is the dogfight kit $17.99? shouldnt it be the same as the 2 kits costs togther or even a tad less?

I guess that the dogfight double set will come with glue, paints and brushes.

Yes, absolutely, but I was thinking more of the impact that a major release of easily obtainable, quality, affordable WWI big kits would have on the marketplace. Capitalising on the groundswell created by WNW, (who may, or may not, still be alive), Airfix could bring a whole new raft of WWI converts - in exactly the same way as Aurora did way, way back and then Revell did again with their WWI releases last century.
Pie in the sky maybe, but I bet they'd sell more of them than the little 'uns.

respect that but.looking at the two new Airfix kits they seem a tad lacking compared to modern kit quality .which is what I'd expect from a company that doesn't specialize in World War one or in any segment up modeling they are a general modeling company and I would expect average or general kit quality.has even without any new releases they could continue repopping for the foreseeable future.the reason WNW is so good is that it is their specialty and their passion.this is just one mans opinion of course.but I don't think anything Airfix would do World War 1 n 1/24th would be any better more accessible or cheaper then merit.

Is the Airfix BE2c better than CMR's resin offering? Is it better than Formaplanes vac version which was mastered by Joe Chubbock a forma Airfix pattern maker? We shall see.I will buy the Airfix kit and build it along with the Formaplane for an interesting comparison.Actually I shall buy two BE2c's and use one to enhance the Formaplane (engine ,wheels prop,etc...etc) Should be interesting! 8)

Even though I don't build in 1:72 scale I'm really looking forward to seeing the first build logs of these new Airfix kits.
