Absolutely superb progress, Lance! The PE set is first rate and you have really
shown it in it's best light, the louvers in particular.  The cockpit is turning into
an absolute jewel...as you said, such a shame to hide it.  Thinking along those
lines, your idea of displaying the Aviattic engine separately is an excellent one
I think.  Two terrific models in one gorgeous diorama? :D  Brilliant job, and
looking forward to the next updates, my friend!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Stretched sprue on the cowling looks like an absolutely masterful job, Lance. And, I love the woodwork! Great color and convincing, subtle grain patterns!

You're definitely making me consider purchasing my first non-WnW WWI kit!

Cheers from NYC,
Michael

Yes, Lance, you are doing amazing work on your D.III. I've been tempted to buy this kit also, especially now that I've seen what you've done with it!

Thanks Ernie, it's an idea that's growing on me. Michael and George, thank you for the encouraging comments, it's a reasonable Kit and a good exercise in "back to basics" modelling. It certainly has some fit issues (dry fitting of the lower wing to fuselage indicates some real short comings to deal with) and there isn't one locating pin anywhere in the mix! James, you're close enough to probably hear the screams and whimpering as this progresses and the bag of tricks gets depleted! :o
    Onwards and upwards! ;)
Cheers,
Lance

Sorry about all the fit issues. It still looks like you've been able to do good things with it. The SS D.III is a sexy little airplane. If I ever want one in 1/32 this is the kit I'll have to buy since WnW most likely won't be producing one anytime soon.

George,
I don't want to create the impression that it's really bad, it just needs a little extra work to make it work, if you follow. It's one mean looking machine, kind of reminds me of a P-47 of it's own generation, all business and no mercy! I'd guess, had Germany not been running short on the proper lubricants, this machine could well have been right up there with the Fokker DVII, it was an excellent interceptor as long as the engine kept running.
Cheers,
Lance

Lance,
Gorgeous work on your interior! The PE, added instruments, and lines are certainly an enhancement and worth the effort. It really is nice to see someone taking on a Roden Kit for a change! Spectacular work to date!

Hi Lance:

This is coming along nicely, nice to see it seeing the light of day and being built.  The work thus far is outstanding in all regards.  The work is clean and tidy.  Looking forward to your take on the engine and seeing the Lozenge go on the wings.
Until that time
Mark

Rick, Mark, and Michael,
Thanks, your compliments are appreciated a lot! I guess if a cattle prod has entered into the equation I'd better do a few more rib tapes tonight, it's a slow process! ???
Cheers,
Lance

Hi Lance - just caught up with this again. Lovely work on the cockpit and that cowl - though a bit late this time you're giving me ideas ;)

How did you get your HGW seat belts to form to the seat? Tried with mine this morning with no success so reverted to Ali foil.

This is going to look a stunning model when done - keep at it

regards - Tug
