Thank you, Gregory, Patrick and Steve.
The kit detail is nice, but nothing like the detail you added to your 17, Patrick.
The fit is perfect, Steve, but tight.  You have to make sure that all the paint is out of the locating holes for the floor piece.  Once you've done that, you'll have absolutely no gaps in the fuselage.  The only place I used any putty was at the wing joint and I didn't really even need that.
Cheers,
Bud

Well, now that the Hannover is finnished and I'm back from vacationing in Puerto Rico, I can finally get back to this one.  Got the Ronny Bar/Bob Pearson revisionist scheme on her.  I used Misterkit French paints and they went on nicely.

Cheers,
Bud

I just "won" an Eduard's  Nieuport 11 Profipack kit on e-Bay. Your excellent build wll be apsiration for me when I get around to building mine.

Personally, I may go with the CDL as depicted on the box art as it's simple (easy) and IMO, looks great also.   :)

Thanks, Tony!  I first saw this scheme on Albert Ball's Nie.16, modeled in 1/48 scale by Tony Sherry.  The instant I saw it, I liked it and felt that it looked right.  I've since picked up the Datafile Special, Nieuport Flyers of the Lafayette , with Bob Pearson's profiles and, after comparing the profiles to the photos, I'm convinced the sceme is correct.
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks, Joe.  I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the Bebe.  I was torn between an Italian cdl scheme, Roderic Dallas's Nie.11 with 2 guns over the wing and this one.  I didn't actually decide for sure until I started painting.  I'll probably do another in cdl.  It's a great little kit.
Cheers,
Bud

Gracias, amigo!  But what on Earth are you talking about?  Boys town?  Puerto Rico has the hottest women on the Planet, yet I somehow mannaged to keep my focus on my lovely wife.  And the food.

And the old forts, del Moro and San Cristobal.  500 years of history.  Pretty damned awesome.

Cheers,
Bud

Thanks, Steve.  You're so right about that rule.  Third and last for me, as well.

Likewise. Tell us more...
Thanks, Red.  Unfortunately, I don't know any more than what I told Tony.  No color notes in the Datafile Special.  Maybe an inquiry to Ronny Bar or Bob Pearson will yield some answers.  I'll have to check into it some more.
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks, Scott.  I agree.  The Bebe's my favorite, although I do like them all.

Bud,

Really nice work. Are the diagonal striations on the cockpit walls molded in the plastic or did you add them? If you added them, how did you do it?  I have used a pencil to draw them on in the past with less than stellar results and I am looking for a better method. Perhaps scribing (one of my least favorite modeling activities).

Thanks, Rob.  As you probably know, Nieuports 11 through 23 had their forward fuselages contructed with diagonal ply strips.  Unfortunately, non of the Eduard kits depict this very prominent feature.  I tried all sorts of methods to recreate the planks without much success.  I ultimately just scribed them with a #11 blade.  It turned out to be easier than I thought it would be.
Cheers,
Bud
