Terrific work on the Silbergrau, Rick.  I think it looks spot-on.
The lack of seams and satiny look on the fuselage is gorgeous, my
friend.:D

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hi,

so far so good! ;)

Very good wood painting and the engines are also very nice.

I will be by your side, the next steps.
It´s interesting to see when you build two planes in the same time.

Regards

Jörg

That was a good choice for the silbergrau Rick.  From pictures I've seen of Pfalz D IIIs it also looks like there was a lot of staining from oil, fuel and other random grime and dirt which the mechanics probably tried to clean off as best they could.

Perfect choice for the silbergrau, Rick!  It contrasts brilliantly with the metal cowling.

Thanks for the comments! I agree about the dirt and oil! I have to add the Jasta 4 wound ribbon in black then I will attempt to simulate some grime using oils!

Thanks Des, Hoplahop, and Moustique! I appreciate all of your comments. The Mix looks good to my eyes and I appreciate your agreement  I think when I get around to doing my Roden DIII I might try ordering Drooling Bulldogs version to see how it looks as I had forgotten they made the color until reminded by Ondra  :-[

Thanks for the question. I am almost... embarrassed to say that to date I have not used Turnbuckles  ::) Something on my list to try soon. So the short answer is I don't know which Gaspatch Buckles you need but I am sure someone will chime in with the answer.

I have a question reference the Salmson. What color is the cowl ring? I have failed to find any suggestion in the WNW or Pheon directions, ( Probably poor research on my part), other than those that had specific colors for squadron or personal markings. Is it French brown matching the camo with a Silver/Aluminum ring where the exhausts are, or a weathered copper? Any suggestions welcome! Just as a reminder I am doing the Pheon scheme with the Eagle and Dachshund Marking.

A small update. I have started to do the preliminary masking of the wound ribbon. This gives the rough basic location for the stripes. Next I will use tape to outline and finalize the ribbon masking, then spray them black. I have also done a little more painting on the Salmson. Next up I will do some weathering on the metal panels.
