You did a stellar job with both the engine and MGs Lance. That Bentley looks just like the real thing. You have nothing to learn about washes my friend. You're right on top of your game in that regard. I'm following suit with the kit supplied MGs too, and hope mine turn out almost as good as yours.

Now it's time to dress up the open area inside the fuselage around the tail skid/rudder area with some bracing wires, get the skid installed, and then I can close her up.

Okie Dokie! Now I know where we're going next so I can conform to you.  ;D

Cheers,

Chris

You have done a superb job with the Bentley Lance, the colouring you used is perfect and the machine guns look excellent.

I'll add to the chorus, outstanding work on the Bentley and MGs, Lance. What a treat it is to have two Snipes being built at the same time and have both of you upping each other's game.

Whoa! You Guys are too kind, Thanks All for the nice comments. I'm not sure who's following who here George, but it sure does keep you on your game! On the other hand you should see the chaos and confusion we get into off-line!
Greg, I took a quick photo of the guns, the Gaspatch Vickers is perched on top of the already installed Kit ones. The difference in size is apparent to me. (as is the detent in the wood handle on the installed starboard gun -note to self for tomorrow's paint session!)

Is it just me? This is in no way meant as a criticism Of the GasPatch version, it's a magnificent product, and well worth the price. In fairness if they were mounted they'd probably blend in just fine. Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Lance

Lance,
The Gaspatch gun looks terrific if noticeably different in size. On the other hand, you have done such a nice job on the kit MGs that considering how buried they are in the fuselage I don't think the aftermarket is necessary. JMHO,

Please do tell! I'd love to see some of the behind the scenes chaos! ;D

As for the MGs, I think you made the right choice. Once the kit parts have a good paint job, as you've done, they look just as nice as the GasPatch version, and the kit MGs fit better.

 Lance,
Is it possible you were shipped the Vickers 11 mm instead of the standard 7.7 mm? It's my understanding that the 11 mm gun is somewhat larger in physical size. I wonder if any of our forum mates here might have a GasPatch 11 mm and a 7.7 mm to compare to the WNW Vickers? That being said I could be completely wrong too. Just seems to account size difference your photographs shows.

If you have the 11 mm Vickers it would be labeled - Vickers 11mm "Balloon Gun". None of the other Vickers list the size on the front packaging so it should be easy to tell what size you have and if you were shipped the wrong one by mistake. I have most of the Vickers, but no Balloon Gun, otherwise I would post a comparison photo.

George

I don't have the (larger) 11mm "Balloon Gun" but here's a shot of the Hyland Type B illustrated before posed with a "Type E Loading Handle" Version I do have on hand, they are identical in size. I'm happy with my choice, and should be able to fit the slightly larger ones in on a later Build. The Camel perhaps!?!

Hi Lance:

Taking a break from the Arizona.  Wowsers!  You and Chris should have a "Pose Down" when the builds are done.  That wicker seat is the bee's knees and your instrument panel looks great.  The clear line and bulb apparatus look great in there.  Was the instrument panel black vice wood?  Either way, it looks great.  The engine work is up to your usual standards as well.  I think you made the right choice on the guns.  As they are buried in the cockpit, the detail isn't visible and as you mentioned, fit is critical in that particular area of the kit.  You are using the Pheon sheet for the decals; correct?  Looking forward to the next update.

Best

Thanks Mark! The black panel was a conscious choice, the TVAL Replica has natural wood, many of the photos of the originals show black. Yes, it'll be Pheon Decals to finish her as Barker's 8102, wouldn't have it any other way!
Cheers,
Lance

Keep the kit guns - they will be mostly hidden, anyway.

Lance, I thought that was a Taurus engine. You did a beautiful job. Keep it up!
