Not to worry George, when this Build is complete I need you to get going on an E Series Fokker Monoplane or "Fee", both of which intimidate me somewhat. Fair??? :-\
Cheers!

Beautiful work, Lance.  That seat of yours has persuaded me to contact Roy myself- they look good before they're painted, but your painted one is superb.  I'll need a couple or so for the kits hiding in the stash.

Also looking forward to how you handle the Gaspatch Vickers.  I was going to use them in the Tripe and Pup, but ran into some minor fit problems and decided to use the kit guns, rather than risk what I've done so far (should ave checked BEFORE closing the fuselages).  So chop, chop, mate.   ;D

Dal.

Sounds fair enough! I have all four E Fokkers and a Fee in my stash. ;D

Gregory!!!

So damned awfully glad to see a post from you! Lance's build is beautiful, and I'll comment on that in a bit, but I know he won't mind just a tiny bit of thread creep when the occasion is hearing from none other than GAJouette!

Hope you're keeping well, and so great to hear from you.

Take care,

Lindsay

Oh, and Lance, sorry for the slight derailment. I haven't posted in quite some time, but your build has brought me back to the living. Beautiful stuff, my friend. Can't wait to see what sort of magic you and Chris pull off on your Snipes.

The cockpit looks superb, Lance!  You are forging ahead with
your usual amazing attention to detail and what a pleasure
following along!  Busy "office" indeed, and you have nailed it,
my friend!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Dal,
That Barracuda Seat is well worth the investment. I'll have both the Kit and GasPatch Guns ready to go in, more to follow I'm sure!
George,
No rush but don't dally on that DH2 forever...............
Greg,
As I said on the other Thread, so good to have you back here, and many Thanks for your encouragement!
Lindsay and Ernie,
A vote of confidence and support from my rich neighbours to the east are always welcome. As an aside I won't sell my Stash just yet but I've got a lot of really cheap oil kicking around here. Who would have thought that potash and wheat would trump oil in our times?! :( :o
Cheers,
Lance

Your cockpit looks absolutely superb Lance. I'm happy that I'm trailing way behind in your slipstream so I can reap the benefits of seeing your photos and read about what you've accomplished. I suppose I need some bad weather over here to close the gap a bit but I'm not wishing for that. I know I don't have to tell you to keep up the good work as nothing but good work comes from your bench. Looking forward to seeing the Bentley!

Cheers,

Chris
You can have it good; You can have it fast; you can have it cheap. Pick any two, but all three are impossible.

Thanks Antonio. Yes, Greg's return is such great news!
Chris, Thanks for the endorsement, the Bentley is half done, I've been distracted working on the guns. I've done both the Kit and Gaspatch versions, not sure which will end up on the model. The GasPatch ones are very slightly larger then the Kit version so it'll be whichever fits in best.
Cheers,
Lance

A long overdue update, it's been a real struggle to find time for the important things in life like working on my Snipe. I need to get a better sense of priorities established around here!
The engine and guns are complete. The Kit supplied Bently was utilised, it's very nicely done and, once the parts are painted, it just snaps together. Copper speaker wire was used for the plug wires and a wash of Winsor Newton Oil, "Lampblack", was applied for oil and grime.

I built up both the Kit versions of the Twin Vickers Guns and also the GasPatch Set 32062 "British Hyland Type B Standard and Reversed Feed" I had bought for the Build. On comparison I found that the GasPatch Set, although slightly better in detail, appeared larger then the WNW version, and a tiny bit over scale to my eye, so I installed the Kit versions. The entire cockpit component was dry fitted inside the fuselage and fit perfectly.

Finally the top cowling was dry fitted to ensure a proper fit.

Now it's time to dress up the open area inside the fuselage around the tail skid/rudder area with some bracing wires, get the skid installed, and then I can close her up. Once closed there's very little visible through the cockpit opening; and behind the seat is completely covered.
I'll be taking a photo or two showing the contrast between the Wingnut and GasPatch Guns and will post it very soon.
Cheers,
Lance

  Lance,
Outstanding progress my old friend. Her Bentley is excellent and near perfect to my eyes. Like it has some time on it , not zero or high time but just right. I'm curious about seeing your photographs of both the WNW and the GasPatch Vicker's guns. Until then keep up the outstanding progress.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette
