Revell Fokker Dr1 in 1:48 MvR
« on: April 29, 2015, 08:19:42 AM »
This is Revell's re-boxing of the Eduard Dr1 (I have the Eduard kit too).

I wanted to build this one as the Baron as whilst it is a bit corny, I thought it worth doing.  I researched the colour and was happy with the dark blood effect but I am not sure if this comes through with these pics taken under flash.

I was getting on quite well when I had an accident with the undercarriage assembly.  I rebuilt it but could not get this to sit straight and the rigging lines wouldn't go because I didn't use eyelets - a mistake I won't make with the Eduard kit!

Apart form my problems "down under" so to speak, the rest of the kit went together well.  I was getting angry with this and had to stop before I trashed the whole thing.  I class this one as incomplete and not finished how I would like, but I  must move on.  The short build log is at http://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=5253.msg92988#msg92988

Great detail for the scale, Ian, and the colour is very nice. I wouldn't be too hard on yourself, you've done a very nice job on this Kit.
Cheers,
Lance

Outstanding triplane Ian! I really like your choice of red. By the way doing a MvR bird is not corny. First everyone thinks they Know how it should look so achieving a result that others like is a difficult task. Second I have heard that the all red tripe is overdone by Modelers. I don't agree. It seems to me most avoid the red tripe because they think it has been done too many times. Your Triplane is a real winner in spite of your gear crash... which I see no sign of  ;D

Very nice MvR DR.1. Your choice of red brings a new look to this airplane. It adds a nice realism and sophistication.

Thanks folks... :)

As for the gear problems, the camera angle hides many issues ;)

Very nice build. Mine went in the bin....because of undercarriage problems. :-[

During my repair where I just could not get the rigging to set, I almost threw the model onto the floor and stamped on it.  But I remembered I was quite happy with the rest of it so left the u/c unrigged!

Nicely done. Being treated to 2 MVR red dreideckers simultaneously is a rare luxury.
