Sopwith Camel 3d
« on: April 07, 2015, 04:11:01 PM »
Hello,

I'd like to share pics of a 3d model I built in Maya a few years ago. The last pic shows the wireframe mesh over the rendered image.

I built this model before companies like Shapeways made 3d printing available to everyone. With a bit of tweaking, this could be printed, but I'm sure it would be pretty costly.

More recently, I have utilized Rhino3d software in my current builds to aid in the design process, and as most of you know, Bo has created amazing little jewels with Maya and Shapeways. The future is upon us! :D

Cheers!
George

They are spectacular 3D drawings George, this is a subject I know very little about and too old to learn, but what you have done looks superb to my eyes.

All polys in Maya. Hit the 3 key for smooth mesh preview and render. Low poly, smooth surfaces.

Ah, I get it now -- thank you :D  -- I never really fully understood the smooth mesh tool set because subdivs are useless for designing game assets with strict poly counts -- but for nice rendering of polys … pretty darn cool.

Amazing work, George. The skills people like you and Bo have in this field are just beyond my comprehension.

Best wishes
