Made a bit of progress last couple days been sick for 2 days  :(

Here is my set up for degassing silicone rubber for casting resin parts.

The bin is made out of 4mm stainless steel welded by a m8 of mine that makes stuff out of stainless steel so he can make a pretty good weld.
The bin is 300mm dia and 350mm high.
On top of that there is a rubber L gasket to seal of the bin, on top of the rubber there is a Lexan plate of 350x350 and 15mm thick.
For the valves i used 1/4 tread which is connected to the vacuum pump whit a rubber hose.
The pump it self pumps 2cfm which takes about 2 min to fully vacuum the chamber to -1 mbar absolute vacuum.

Here is the silicone i used mixed by ratio of 5% of harder.

Mixed with a steel knife as to not introduce moist from wooden sticks.
As you can c its full of bubbles.

took it in the chamber and pulled vacuum keep watching the process since the rubber will expand.
Keep in mind that the rubber will expand about 3 times so a large enough mixing container is needed i made 150ml so i need a container of 500ml.

Eventually it looks like this, i poured it in the mold starting from one corner.

This is what iam making weighted wheels.

Anny one that needs some wheels send me a PM and i can cast a pare, or more.
Cost i don't know yet since i don't know how much resin i need to cast them yet.

Made the front wheels of spare parts and vacuum pulled the covers for it.

Made a plug for the under side of the fuselage, to later vacuum pull.

Made the aileron control pins.

Detailed the tail with struts and tail skid.

Made the struts from brass and solder wire of 0.3 so i can glue it on the tail wing.

End result.

I've always wondered how resin casters work their magic so thanks very much for posting this. Of course, it whets my interest for more in regards to how they manage to cast something like a hollow tank turret.

Cheers,

Chris
You can have it good; You can have it fast; you can have it cheap. Pick any two, but all three are impossible.

The radiator and wheels are done.
No air bubbles because i have pressure cured the resin in a pressure pot 4 bar (60 PSI0)

I placed a center hole to drill the hole for the Axel so it will fit anny kit landing gear.
The third picture shows my version for the caproni the set contains sollid wheels, sor you can drill the proper hole in the wheels.

The dia of the wheels is 26mm and they are weighted wheels.
Are good for Gotha 1/32.
Caproni ofcours.

Anny interest in the set send me a PM,

The set will contain 4 wheels and 2 radiators.
Price is 9 euro, Shipping not included.

The resin casting process seems so simple yet eludes me. Really enjoy your scratch work.

Made some slow progress with the struts which are done now.

Here have made a sanding jig with 180 grid sand paper to sand the wood in to shape, 12 times :S
Next drilled 0.8 holes into both sides of the strut to accept 0.8 brass rod.
Then when all the brass Rodd's where glued in place i socked the wood in thin super glue after that sanded it smooth.
Fixed all the struts in a jig to mark the position of the tapes and made them from Gold mirror finish from Hasegawa trytool.
Wrapped it around two times then sealed it with future.

End result:

Here are the home made radiators casted in Resin.

Last couple days been busy with the Engine V4b engine.
Been using the instruction manual from the engine order on the net, also many ref fotos.
Found out that no engine is the same :S but iam quit happy with the results so far.

Almost done a few more details to be added and iam ready to cast it in Resin.
