Extremely well done Eric, this is an unbelievable price but I guess the guy really wanted it desperately.

Des.

Thanks Des.  As so often happens with eBay, timing is everything.  I couldn't find any indication that an Aeroclub jig has ever been listed on eBay so mine was very likely the first.  It will be interesting to see if any others show up in the near future and what they sell for.  I'm guessing it will be quite a bit less although we know there's at least one other person here in the U.S. willing to pay big bucks for one...the losing bidder on mine!   :)

Cheers,
Eric

I was thinking about this today and was wondering if maybe the winner plans to reverse engineer this and go into production?  It certainly doesn't look like it would be hard to do?  That might explain the price, but even then I'm not sure.  I'd think it would be better to just start from scratch and design your own.

Matt

You know what Matt?  I had that exact same thought.  I guess time will tell.

While it may not look it at first glance, the Aeroclub jig is far more sophisticated than others currently on the market which are mostly just glorified stands.  A lot of thought went into the engineering.  I believe there were at least two versions released as the design was perfected.   Being made from heavy photo-etched brass, I understand manufacturing them was quite time consuming.

Cheers,
Eric

Just be warned Bob, there's no guarantee you'll see anything like the results I did.  EBay can be a fickle place.  If you're using your jig don't be hasty to get rid of it.  The only reason I sold mine was that as I've gone all 1/32 for my WWI models I wanted a larger jig/stand and would never use the Aeroclub one.   Getting the price I did was as much a shock to me as everyone else.  :)

Cheers,
Eric

I use mine for 1:32. I had longer lateral "spars" or rails included and it works very nicely, although it might fail to meet the requirements of a Felixstowe!
