A gorgeous looking model with fantastic paint, the rigging is absolutely first class, one of the finest looking Gotha models I have ever seen.

Zavod, regardless of the length of time building this huge model, you have
done a superb job, especially considering this is your first WWI model in a
very long time!  You have amazing talent and the Gotha as it nears completion
is already a show stopper!  All you have to do now is wait for the next
competition and you will have a shoe-in with this lovely huge aeroplane. ;) :D
Well done and thank you for giving us the build log!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Beautifully, simple beautifully ---  I like the painting.
I am pleased that the two drain cocks were not forgotten on the water coolers.
Late, but they are now there.  8)

This is one excellent build that I'm following closely!
One question:
How you manage to do this wire circled in red? I'm strugling with that at the moment

I'll try to explain, I don't have any pictures at the moment but I'll go home and take pictures and show you what I did....  As you know this is a very tricky wire to do.  And I tried a bunch of stuff but i didn't have any success.  I tried tying mono filament line and I couldn't get it to work.  I tried tying the fine EZ line.  So when you tie two pieces of line together you end up with a knot in the middle and four lines sticking out in four directions...SO I cut one line off and when I stretched it, it came unraveled and fell apart.  I tried to put a little glue on the know but that deformed the line and it didn't look so good.  So I kept trying to figure it out.  I had a bright idea, what if I held two of the lines together and stretched the other two into the "Y" shape.  Once I stretched it real tight you couldn't tell that two lines were sitting right next to each other.  So that way my knot held tight and I could do what I had to do.  At that point I just glued the two lines to the inside of the engine access door, and then I drilled holes in the top wing and fed it through pulled it tight and staked it with a sharpened piece of plastic rod.  I'll take some pictures because I know it's hard to understand without pictures.....I'll take some tonight......

Okay I must profusely apologize for these horrible photos, they are horrible.  I had a chance to show a demo of how I did the "Y" shape rigging.....

Here are my two pieces of fine EZ line.....

Tied them in a simple knot

Hold two of the lines together,  these are the two I glued inside of the engine access panel

Voila!  The two in the clamps are the ones I passed through the top wing and staked.  As you can see once the bottom two lines that are held together are pulled so tight you can't tell that they are really two lines side by side, they just appear as one.  If I did it again, I would try to put them through an eyelet and pass them through a tube like I did for all the rest.  That is up to you, but I think this is a pretty easy way to do this "Y" rigging.  Make sure you leave plenty of slack for the two arms.

I got some work done, this weekend.  I should have another update soon.

Sorry for these horrible pictures again.....

I got the bombs on last night, I hate turning the model over at this point, all the lines go slack and it makes me cringe.  I don't think I'll need to turn it over any more.  I will say now that the bombs are fitted this kit has become very hard to move around.  You always know when a model is close to being done because it becomes almost impossible to touch it.......

I hope to button this up this weekend, we'll see if I can do it.   :) :)
