Stefan,
Wonderful Model, the paint work and detailing are superb! Best wishes for quick, painless, and quickly recovered surgeries, you'll be back here before you know it!
Cheers,

Friends,

after a break of nearly 10 months work has restarted (Hey, Bo, you are not the only one!) with repairing the undercarriage's rigging, which broke while storing the kit away last year

The generator has been connected to the interior as well.

Completing the tail's rigging will be next

but this will take time. My dexterity has worsened last year (this is now more or less on par with my bad eyesight), which makes it very very hard to insert the rigging into those poly tubes. But Bertl's way of showing those splices is much more impressive than using brass tubing, which means I do have to preserve...

Small progress, I know, and the lack of speed is depressing. I will do my best to speed up.

Stefan

Hello,
sadly I found that post just right now: Great project, I love the DFW and have one in my stash. It's coming together prettily and from now I'll follow closely!
Best wishes

Yes, good to have you back with the DFW C.V!  Underestimated plane - probably because neither Richthoven nor Voss nor any other adored hero gained air-victories with it...

Nice progress Stefan.

A little hint with the polyimide tubing -- run a .25mm (or .30mm depending on tubing size) drill bit thru your little sleeve after you've cut it. Makes it much easier to thread.

Good to have you back with the DFW, Stephen!  Not to worry about
slow progress...I move at a Snails pace these days too.  The
undercarriage is looking quite fit now and I look forward to the next
updates, my friend.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Yes, good to see you back on this. As for a SNAILS PACE I think I hold the Title... with the exception of Bo the Magnificent because of his many and varied projects and SUPER DETAILING!

Small update: i successfully finished rigging the tail. This tiny task took nearly eight months, and as it's result is rather negligable, i decided not to bother you with photos.

Weathering the DFW has begun

I am going for an airframe that had been standing outside for too long. The photos of the aircraft after capture show a rather bleached paintjob, covered with smears on the tail, bad ribtape-repairjobs and a large amount of degradation/abuse.

Lower left wing has a combination of streaks, "hairspray method" (degradation of reinforced area near wingroot) and sponge application for tread marks on the wing area.

Stefan,
I like the weathering you are doing here, very nicely done. I prefer a weathered finish on these aircraft and this one, being bleached and somewhat neglected, is a perfect subject. This is looking very nice, keep up the great work!
Cheers,
Lance
