My base under the model
« on: October 03, 2014, 01:55:48 AM »
In this topic I would like to share how I make the basis for model.
I'll start with the final cut and painted plank :

Now assemble the grid to connect plasterboard, in order to enhance the adhesion of glue:

Paper tape mask the edge of the stand:

To forming grounds I use glue for bonding Styrofoam facade panels (glue prepare by adding water into it  :D)

The formation of the land (no need to rush, glue dries long):

Take off the mask and wait for until completely dry:

The next steps are, painting, planting grass and execution of trees and shrubs
To be continued....

I used Humbrol no:  33, 29, 98, 103, 83, 80, 117, 225
The next step: grass, sand and ground.

Thanks Jacek for showing us your step by step techniques, I'm sure that many of the members will follow your lead and make similar bases.

Thanks ALBATROS1234 and  Des.

Today, earth and sand.

I take Earth from the garden, drying and sieving through a fine strainer.

The sand is from a piece of sandstone found on the river.

Watching your models I think that is not quite a true ;)

I use wood glue. It is water based and easy for me to control its density, when it is wet is white, and when dry becomes clear.

The application of the grass has certainly made the base come to life, and it has been a real treat watching you form the tree and shrub, I'm looking forward to seeing paint added to the tree.
